All I wanted was to grow my wings. Oh, by the way, my name is Kelly Jenkins. I'm a thirteen-year-old girl with a shy but normally cheerful personality. Until it happened. Everyone else started growing their wings except me, I felt jealous, and I finally found out... Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start at the beginning. Well, not the very beginning...
It all started when I got to school several years ago. I wasn't especially pretty or anything, so nobody really noticed me much. Anyway, I had just walked up the sidewalk to school when I saw a big group of kids standing around someone. My friend, Sheila said, "Seriously? You really grew them already?" That's when I knew it started. At first, I was excited. Wings are the coolest things in all of... all of... whatever. You get the point... right? At first I was excited, then I was apprehensive. All of us kids had heard stories about people who never grew wings and had to live with the shame of being one of the only fairies without wings. Normally, they ended up going to psychiatrists because they couldn't handle the depression and shame.
I stood there for a while, stunned. Then, as the bell rang for school to start, I shook out of my shock and went to my first class. Oh! I need to tell you about Fairy Academy. There are ten 'grades' (I'm in eighth), and only three classes. The first class is Magic 101, second is Language Arts (reading, writing, history, art) and the third is Math, which is sometimes replaced by either extra magic classes or more Language Arts. There is also a fourth, Flying 101, to help you get a flying license, but that only occurs after you grow your wings. There are more when you get to the 'college' level.Back to the story. I walked inside the classroom and we started class shortly afterward. We started by learning the Invisibility Spell which, obviously, turns you invisible. I was pretty good at it, but then again, my parents tutor me during the summers. I successfully turned myself invisible first and no one could see even an outline. I was really proud, but that wouldn't last too long.
I soon went to my next class, which today was history, the most boring subject in the world. We learned about the numerous civil wars that happened between all the different kingdoms. Boring. Very boring! Then the teacher asked us questions about them. I couldn't answer most of them. I can't remember facts and stuff like that.
Anyway, I went to my next class. I didn't do well there, either. I forgot all that quadratic stuff during the summer . My parents only tutor me on Magic, that's the only stuff that matters to them. Thanks to me, everyone had to review. I got some pretty ugly looks from my classmates that day...
Soon, to my obvious relief, school was over. For now. I went home, but I didn't know what would happen for the rest of that week.

Grow Your Wings
FantasyThis story is not a typical fairy tale. It begins with a young fairy in a land with all of the fairy tails combined ( or at least most of them). All she wants is to grow her wings and be able to fly like everyone else in her class.
