Chapter 4
Scar’s POV
I stomped into school. Then I remembered. Great. First period was English. Grrrr…
Not that I don’t like it or anything, but we have a freaking ‘seating plan’- meaning I CAN NOT MOVE FROM MY SEAT, and I must remain SEATED NEXT TO A DROOLING PHYSCO.
I mean he’s just weird. I mean, don’t get me wrong, being unique and crazy is cool, but drooling and picking your nose is nasty, right? And to top it off, he sits next to me four out of five days a week.
I’m walking on my way to the classroom, ignoring the glares I was getting from 90% of the chicks here and the penetrating looks I was getting from the desperate guys (which freak me out and annoy me big time).
Miss Sanghara, my English teacher, greeted me as I walked into the packed classroom, being only minimally late- I enjoyed English, and so therefore was one of her favourite students. The room in which we were studying today was airy, due to the wide, clear windows on the left and right sides of the room.
I sit in the back row (hey, no judging) on the left, next to Freaky Fred (that’s my nickname for him-cute, hey? Please note the sarcasm), who hadn’t yet turned up.
As I unpacked my bags, I turned to greet one of my best friends Rox.
“Did you hear about Freaky Fred?” she was jumping up and down, excited.
“Nah, what?” I was curious. Was he abducted by aliens perhaps?
“He got food poisoning.”
“Shocking. And?”
“He’s not coming back.”
I looked at Rox with wide eyes and a shocked face, freezing. How could she be so happy about something like that?
“He’s not dead!” She exclaimed she hurriedly assured me, giggling slightly at the look on my face. I visibly relaxed. I mean, I knew he was nasty, but he didn’t deserve to die.
“Then what?” I asked irritated, as I sat down- this didn’t interrupt our conversation, as she was simply across the aisle from me.
“His Dad came back from the Army, saw him, was disgusted at his behaviours, and sent him off to some Military Boarding school to learn a few lessons.”
“What?” I tried to stifle my laugh. Poor, poor Freddy.
“Yeah, but that’s not it,” she began rushing, but stopped, as Sanghara was giving us both pointed looks. As soon as she turned away, I turned to Rox again, but she just whispered, “you’ll see.”
I turned back to Sanghara, who, as soon as the class was settled, began to speak.
“As I’m sure many of you by now will know, due to unfortunate circumstances, your fellow student Fred Gooler has had to leave our school. I’m know that we will all miss him (I swear even she had to control a smile at that). Nevertheless, this left a place open, and so therefore we have a new student, who should be arriving shortly. Now, I must ask that you give him some space, as of course these surroundings are new to him, and-” she was interrupted from her speech by a knock on the door, towards which everyone’s eyes swivelled.
Mr Keel walked in. Immediately, everyone stood up (he was a teacher, this was a stupid rule at our school). He had a few quiet words with Sanghara, and then left. But this wasn’t why everyone’s jaws had dropped.
