The Adveture of Gertrude

A shot of hope

As morning comes a new day come and another day too prepare. Prepare for what Gertrude has been training for here whole life to be a knight. Gertrude is up making the requested materials that needed to be made for the knights. As she is making them Lenord her father comes down "Good morning sweetie, how are you doing?" Asked Lenord. Gertrude replied " Fine just finished the a few shields for the knights and I feed the horse. "Well I'm glad your being productive so soon, well what else does the king need?" Gertrude replied " 5 more swords, 3 helmets, and a few bows with arrows." "Well sounds like a normal day for us." Said Lenord. "Yeah. Hay after we are done with the orders can you show me how too use my bow better?" Lenord replied "You know the rules Gertrude it is forbidden for women too use weapons." "Well what if monsters come and attack the village and the knights can't stop them we have too defend our self." Gertrude stated. "If I show you will you get back to work?" Lenord asked. "Yes" Gertrude answered. "Fine, but after all of the requests are finished got it." Lenord demanded. "Thanks Dad." Gertrude said. "Hay and mabey tomorrow you can show me how to use my sword better and how to use my shi-" "Gurtude" Lenord said. "Sorry" Gertrude said.
     As day falls and night is coming Gertrude finished all of the requests for the day they go too an open field too shoot some arrows. "All right lets get started." Lenord said. " Ok what do u want me too do?" Gertrude asked. "You see that hay bale?" Lenord asked. As Gertrude looks into the field there is a hay bale with sticks on it making it look like circles, as they get closer too the middle the circles get smaller. "Yes I see it." Gertrude said. Good what you want to do is hit your arrow closest too the middle, got it?" Lenord asked. "Got it." Gertrude answered. As she aims her shot she shoots and it misses. "Pull the string back to your cheek, then keep ur hands and arms steady then try shooting." Lenord said. "I'll give it a shot." As she is using the advice Lenord said she aims and takes the shot it hits in the second of the three circles. "Nice shot." Lenord said excited. "Let's see if I can do that again." Gertrude said. As she shoots 5 more arrows. After she shot her 5th arrow they hear a noise. They look they see some guards from the village. "Stop where you stand." One of the guards said. "We were about to come back." Claimed Gertrude. "I don't want to hear it, wait have you been shooting arrows?" The guard asked. Before Gertrude says anything the guards are bursting out in laughter. "Haha women can't shoot." "Are those your shots those are awful." As the guards keep humiliating Gertrude. "Well I beat I can shoot better than you!" Gertrude shouted. "Well going to make this worse for yourself I see, well why not I'm in for a laugh." As the guard grabs the bow. "Watch this." He shoots an arrow it hits dead middle. " Can't beat that." The guard claimed. As Gertrude aims for her shot she tells herself "You can do this." She whispers. As she take the shot it goes dead middle through the arrow the guard shot and there is just a hole in the hay bale with what use too be an arrow on the ground. As Gertrude picks up the arrow she shot and said. "Now can you beat that." As the other 2 guards are laughing at the guard saying. "How do you get beat by a women." One of the guards say. "We got too tell the others." As the 2 run off. "Hay get back here." The guard said chasing after them. "Wow you showed them." Lenord said. "I did it I beat the guard!" Gertrude said excited. As she thinks too herself "If I can out shoot one of the Kings guard that has too mean something, I knew I could do it. "Hay let's get out of here before they come back." Lenord said. "Ok let's go home." Gertrude said. As they walk back Gertrude thinks "This has too mean something, this has too mean I can do it this is what I've been waiting for a chance too show that a women can fight just as well as a man could." "I just needed a shot a chance and now after what I just did I now have a shot of hope." "Come on its getting late hurry up." Lenord said. "Coming I'm coming." Gertrude says. As the night sky follows with there trip back home marking the end of another day in the village.
    "My King something unbelievable just  happened one of the women in the village out shot our best Archer, what do you want me too do the law clearly states tha-." "SILENCE" Said the king interrupting the guard. "We shall wait see what this " Women" can do, so for now let's leave her be." The king demand." "Yes your hinges."
Alone the king is as he thinks to himself. "How can a female shoot better than my best  Archer, matter mabey I can use this women in a later time." "Allen get in here." The King demanded "Yes your hinges." Allen the Archer said. "So can you tell me exactly what happen?" The King asked. Allen explained what happened and as he gets further into what happens the Kings face was looking like he was in shock, but with a not so surprised face as if he was expected this too happen. "Allen come with me...NOW!" The King demanded.
As the king and Allen head too a deap part of a dungeon. "Now before I show you what I am about too this doesn't leave the dungeon if you tell anyone you will be executed and whoever you tell, got it." The King stated. "Yes my king." Allen answered. "You are about too be told about the proficey." The King said.
