The Shadow Hunters

The shadow fell down the cliff as I tried to take him back. He had ran away from me last week, since then I felt a part of me was missing, well there was. I would walk around during the day without him following me like he normally does the way he copied my every move the way he would disappear when it was dark like a young boy scared of the monster in his closet. I was lonely and he was my only friend who would listen to everything I had to say.

On the last day of school for the year I told my best friends Ella and Daniel about my problem and we decided to catch him with Ella's gadget genius and Daniel's love of adventure we decided to head off in the morning.

As I packed my bags that night I knew it would be the last time I would see my family for a while so I sat down and wrote them a note:

Dear Mum, Dad and Billy I need to go off for a while but I promise I will be back soon I will miss you all so very much, and I promise I will be safe. Daniel and Ella are coming with me, I know it sounds crazy but I need to get my shadow back I'm not running away

There were teardrops on the page as I folded up my letter and put it in an envelope marked mum,dad and billy I kissed each member of my family on the forehead put the note on the kitchen bench for them to read in the morning. quietly and slowly closed the door behind me and walked down the path opened the gate and went out looking back on the house I wouldn't see for a long time. thinking about the family that would hopefully go on with life with out me.

With clothes for all different weather climates I headed for Ella's house where we said we'd meet. I saw them out the front red faced with tears in their eyes I knew that they were as sad as I was missing their family as well. But we were all in this together and as my shadow got further it meant the more time we were on the road so we started walking in a direction we all figured my shadow would be heading paradise the one place where the was no darkness and it was always happy.

As the night was dark they decided they should get Some rest as it would be a long trip ahead of them as the walked into a clearing it was then a hunt for supplies to keep warm and make a fire Ella was setting up the tent she tried by hand but didn't succeed she then got out a gadget that looked sort of like an egg beater and in an instant there was a huge tent like a double story house. With the six days that we were gone I decided to right a diary entry a day.

Day one: today was a hard day not waking up to the same alarm clock to see my brother at the head of the bed to say good morning the things that I used to hate that I'd get so angry about but we pushed on and every step we took was one step closer to paradise.

Day two: we were that far away it wasn't funny I was sure that in time we had before my shadow got to paradise and was his own human we wouldn't get there. Ella informed me that the were in danger going to paradise without a good training

On fighting so we decided that it would be good on our way to train.

Day three: Ella was up almost all night making training equipment with things from swords to shields training dummies that stood there and training dummies that chased you it was amazing we trained for hours and learned different techniques but then we had to get on the road.

Day four: getting tired and loosing hope that's all I need to say its hard but we should get there tomorrow l am almost certain about that. We push through what has felt like forever long nights and short days that feel like we are getting nowhere hours on our feet and little not but suddenly I see it.

Day five: I see it, I see it. It's finally here I've worked to find it and its finally there. We run to the island then see him... He is looking at me with dark grey eyes. A shadow that's all he is created by light and destroyed by darkness all I had to do was catch him and he was mine again the time with that Empty feeling would be gone and I would have a normal life again I reach out and go straight through him I WENT RIGHT THROUGH HIM.... ALL THAT WAITING AND ALL THAT SUFFERING TO GO RIGHT THROUGH HIM THIS WILL NOT DO.... I get Ella to make some sort of vacuum while I wrote in this blasted thing I'm still angry but I'm assured my Daniel that we will get my shadow back

Day six: the vacuum is done and I'm ready to catch him we run,we all run fast as fast as we can but then we reach the cliff and he falls. He falls down the cliff I get my vacuum out and I turn it on. It sucks, sucks up all the air and the shadow. I caught him he's finally mine again it was time to return home.

We are home and embraced by family... Embraced and punished I should have known this would happen and there i was thinking that there would be no punishment I'm such an idiot but three weeks grounding is fine by me ill see my friends at school and I finally feel complete again.
