The whining sirens of the GCPD patrol units never seemed to stop that night. This wasn't unusual, however, as the rate of crime in Gotham City was only increasing. Two particular police cars were winding their way through the endless traffic, heading to an abandoned warehouse near Falcone's Shipping. A crime had been reported and officers were on their way to investigate.
After almost twenty minutes, the two police cars finally reached the dock, tyres screeching to a halt only a few yards away from the warehouse.
Two doors swung open, but the drivers weren't eager to step out. Though many places in Gotham were well-known for being dark, they had never experienced such a gloomy atmosphere before. The wind was howling, almost as if warning them to stay away from the warehouse. Commissioner Jim Gordon, moving closer and closer, ignored these frightful howls. He and the officer, who stood almost hiding behind him, had semi-automatic pistols raised before them. Their bright torches shone a path as they took their first steps inside. The main door creaked noisily as it swivelled round. Jim turned left as he motioned to the officer to search the opposite area.
It was only after a few minutes of creeping through the darkness that the Commissioner found it. Its metallic surface gleamed against the shining of the torch. Like previous times, one of its razor-sharp tips was dug into the wall. Seeing it for the third time that week sent a chill down his back. He slowly muttered in a low, hazy voice.
"It's him. It's the Batman."
