It was a dark and stormy night (of course, look at the title). Usually, you loved storms. The sound of big, full raindrops practically bouncing off the roof. However, thunder was a big no-no. Soft rumbling? Okay. Even a few crashes or bangs, you'd get over it. But tonight? This storm was an asshole like non other. You could feel the house shaking under the thunder's wrath, at storm's mercy.

You hated this. Being afraid. Thunder was the only thing that got you. In fact, you called Edward Elric short. Right. To. His. Face. ( I mean, you had to bend down a little, but..)

Ah, Edward. The luscious flowing locks that were almost as golden as the shining, shimmering pools of light known as his eyes. Just the thought of that familiar boy grin was enough to almost- almost- make you smile. The way he made you laugh- hell, the way he  laughed- just seemed to make him glow. NOT THAT YOU WERE IN LOVE WITH HIM. He was just..nice, is all. Yeah, a nice boy, who won't notice you. Okay ,okay..Maybe you liked him. A little.

Since you couldn't sleep, you decided to go to the kitchen for a late-night snack(ACTUALLY, it was because you needed to get out of the confined space that was your room, but you denied anything that made you uncomfortable in the slightest. One of your least attractive features, I must say). Tip-toeing down the stairs, you realized that the kitchen light was already on, and there was a clanking sound.

It couldn't be Winry, she sleeps like a rock..

It couldn't be Alphonse, he wouldn't be in there unless..

Unless..

You advance to the doorway, seeing the fridge door wide open. A certain blonde head poked up a little, as he practically shouted "Damn- there's nothing to eat in here!!" You smile softly and chuckle a little. It was funny, watching his hair antenna bounce up and down as he looked for consumption material. Al giggled a little, drawing attention to himself. Ed looked at him, and followed his gaze to you. Dammit! Al always does this when he sees you do stupid stuff  around Ed. He's just too observant for his own good!

"Hey.._____.."

"H-Hey..I-I couldn't sleep so I.." You hated the way your voice trailed off.

"Don't bother. There's nothing in there except..milk." You're pretty sure  it was the most disgusted face he could manufacture. You rolled your eyes as you got yourself a glass, poured a little milk in, and took a sip.

As soon as you set the glass down, the thunder bellowed- awakening your fear. You stood there, glazed over like an idiot. Wide-eyed and stiffened, you failed to notice Ed approaching behind you.

"_____?" Great. Your attempt to slow you breathing is now void.

"You're..afraid of thunder, aren't you..?"

As if sneaking up behind someone wasn't startling enough! He just asked the very question you never wanted to hear!

"A-Afraid..? Of thunder..?" you echoed. "I-I'm not--!"

BOOOMMMSHKSHHHHKABANGGGG

(Was that a good impression?)

Thunder's roar ran gout through your ears, shaking you body as much as the house. It sent you couching in fear, rolled up in a quaking ball with your hands over your ears, and eyes squeezed tight. Despite the lack of support, you miraculously kept your balance, and were sure XING could hear your shaky, uneven breaths.

"You are, aren't you?" Ed said softly as he pulled you into a gentle hug. You squeezed back, burying your head into his chest. The breathing easily slowed, and the shaking lessened. You felt safe in his arms.

He brought you over to the couch, where you two talked through the thunder. You may hate said asshole, Thunder, but you liked the way the thunder illuminated Ed's golden features, if only for just a moment.

It was nice to know he'd be there, When Thunder Calls.
