the deadly wave

My three boys and my husband  

Robert and me of course decided to go over to fiji for a nice sunny holiday to get away from the horrible freezing cold winter back here in the South Island of New Zealand. My boys names are Jarrod who is the eldest child, and he is 12 years old, Jakob is the middle child who is 5 years old, and David who is only 3 years old. 

We all packed our bags to get ready for the early morning flight at 5am. once we had finally finished the packing we went to bed to have a good night sleep, so we won't be to tired in the morning. 

we got our bags, put them in the car and set off for the roadtrip to Christchurch airport. Once we were finally there after alot of traffic on the roads we relised that we were a little bit late, so all of us quickly went through customs and sent our bags off. Once my family had done that we were almost ready to board the plane so we all quickly ate macdonalds for breakfast and set off to board the plane. 

once we had finally finished the plane trip that to Jarrod it felt like 10 houres because his two little brothers were very hyperactive the whole 3 houre trip. 

when we arrived at the fiji airport the customs officers asked us if we had anything flamible or edible in their bags and I said "no" and the customs officer put a flowery necklase around all of our necks and the set off to the 5 star holiday resort that I booked online and we all unpacked all of our clothes. later that day we set off to go for a swim in the resorts pools. we instantly fell in love with the place and wanted to stay here much longet than a week but Robert ( the dad) and I had to go back for their jobs because I was a docter and so needed to be there to help out with all of the sick people and Robert was a cop so of corse he had to go back to stop all the chaos that was happening and to stop the crime. But both Robert and Katie wanted a break from their tireing jobs and so thats why they went on holiday. In this luxurious resort there were three different kinds of pools, one childs pool, a hot pool and a normal pool. My whole family spent almost all day in the hot pool. When the life saver came to tell us that it was time to get out we did but we all looked like we were 40 years older than we really were because we had gained wrinkles all over our bodies from being in hot water for too long. So any way we basicly just went to the resturant to have dinner, had a shower and went to bed because we were that tired. we were woken at three thirty IN THE MORNING beacause of a siren we had no idea what it was so I looked out the window to see heaps of cars rushing down the street like made and people running around like chickins with their heads cut off. 

"what was happening"? I asked 

"it might be a salami mummy" David said. 

then I realised it was a tsunami so we quickly got in the car and followed all the people. The siren stopped and we were told that it was just a warning so we went back to the resort. They had to do a bloody tsunami warning at this time really? I thought. we went back to bed and tried to get a bit of rest after our early morning alarm. we got up at 7 but none of us had a very good sleep scince the warning.  

we got up to have the 8oclock breakfast and then we went food shopping because we have nothing at all. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I saw the houses and the supet market and how run down it was. I couldn't figure out how such a beautiful place has such a poor community. But lanyway I better go back to see the kids because the they are wattching the minute go by so that they can go for a much needed swim on this boiling hot summers day. So I went back and as soon as I got back all three kids were already in their togs and begging me to go for a swim so I gpt made to quickly unpack the food and then go and get ready.

so we went down to the pool and the boys jumped straight in and I got in like a normal lady would. i got straight back out to tan because my skin was so white it wasnt even funny. Robert was in the pool with the boys and they were passing a beach ball around to each other.

then suddenly I heard a siren and right now I was dreading there to be a tsunami. but everyone was rushing around. All I thought of right now was my Family so i ran over to see them but a soon as i looked up i saw a huge wave and what looked like trees in the wave getting thrown around. I saw my hubby yelling out to my kids to dive under the water and I ran to a tree and clinged on for dear life. The wave rushed over us throwing people into trees like humans are rubbish. I got throwin into a few trees and I couldnt breath for a long long time. I looked around amd I saw jarrod and yelled out to him. He looked around and we tried to swim to each other but the current was way to strong. eventually the curret changed so Jarrad went with the current to come see me. We went with the current clinging on to each other for dear life and finally we saw bear land about 200 meters away from where we were at this present moment. We were going so fast with the current and we ran into so many things that were in our way. i felt something cut my leg and all i could feel was my flesh and skin waving in the current. once we had finished the painfull trip and we were onto the bear land jarrod heard a little boy yelling out for his mum so we went over and I carried him to higher grounds. we saw a load of paramedics running over to us and they carried me om a strecher bacause my leg was half torn off. Jarrod came by my side. i was rushed to hospital and they gave me a drug that made me feel like crap and I couldnt stop spewimg up blood. There were hundreds of other people that were in the hospital being treated as well. I told jarrod to go and help other people that wern't getting treated and because I was a nurse I knew what to do. But I was in a terrible state myself so I couldnt help them because I needed alot of help myself. Jarrod came back to see me but when he came I had moved beds but he thought I had died and so he was panaking. I wasnt aloud to get up so I just had to shout and hope that he would hear me but luckily he did
