I wake up laying on a sidewalk. It's very warm.
Am I dead? I think.
I decide to stand up. I look at my wrist. It was just a big scar. No blood. No nothing but a scar.
I look up on the horizon to see another person. He has jet black hair and he has normal clothes. In front of him, a long staircase.
The stairway to heaven?
I didn't know, but I was gonna talk to the guy.
I ran towards him.
"Excuse me?" I say.
He turns around. He smiles.
"Hello, Ronnie," he says. I recognize him.
Quintus.
He continues to walk.
"Where am I?" I ask.
"This is the stairway to your subconscious. Since you are dead you live here now forever," he says.
I am alarmed.
"I'm actually dead?" I ask. Quintus nods.
"Yes, you are."
I'm shocked. I don't exist on earth anymore.
I live here.
"Would you like to continue up the staircase?" Quintus asks.
I nod.
And we walk up the stairs, uninterested in small talk.
"So do you know what this staircase leads to?" I ask.
"This is basically you walking into the light of a new life," Quintus says. "You are going to your subconscious now to live forever."
"Wow," I say.
I have been in my subconscious before. It's basically heaven. Everything here goes amazing. Cars fly. People fly. It's the future.
As we continue up the stairway, I look below. Blue oceans. The railings are covered in flowers. It looks just like the stairway to heaven.
I smile. I no longer have to deal with the people who hated me. I'm free.
"You know people miss you on earth though, right?" Quintus says.
"Oh believe me Quintus, they don't miss me," I say. "But it doesn't matter, right?"
"Correct."
"So let's not go on that subject," I say.
We keep walking up, for there is a break in our conversation. We both just focus on walking up.
"Where does this staircase end?" I ask.
"It's quite a long one, but we are almost there," Quintus says.
Eventually we come to a portal.
It feels as if it's sucking me in.
"Shall we?" He says.
"We shall."
We both then go into the portal, me leaving the real world behind.
Forever.
