                               °Dan's POV°

I breathed heavily as I tried to reach the end of the trail. I haven't walked this much in about a week, I really need to get into the swing of things. As I looked around at my surrounding I saw trees, dried blood, and leaves on the ground. As I seen the curve of the trail ahead I knew I will almost there. Just as I was about to take a short break I heard thunder.

"Oh, perfect." I mumbled quietly.

I felt a few raindrops and I started to fall on me. It took me at least five minutes before I finally got back to the house. I knocked once to give Phil a small heads up that I'd made it back. I opened the door and took my shoes off, shutting and locking the door behind me.

Once I took a second to catch my breath I walked into the kitchen to find Phil making lunch. Phil smiled at the sight of me, considering I haven't been home for a week. I put the bag of food and other things I was ordered to to get on the floor.  Phil gently put the knife down he was using to cut up the vegetables and ran over to me, wrapping his skinny arms around me tightly.

I smiled and felt comforted. Which, I always do when I'm near him. He let go after about 45 seconds. I sat down as he walked back over to the counter and continued preparing lunch.

"So, what are we having?" I asked

"Just an old dish my Grandma used to make for me when I was a kid." He replied

"That's nice, how are the kids?" I asked

"They're doing good. I've gotten them to stop screaming and crying, which is a plus." He laughed

"Really? Wow, I'm surprised!" I said jokingly

"Speaking of, the trays of food are in the fridge, could you be so kind and bring them their trays?" He asked

"Of course!" I said

I picked up the two trays and made my way downstairs to the basement. I walked past the large boxes with food and drinks filled with them on each side of me and opened the door basement door. The kids looked up at me, slightly frightened by the noise of the door. I smiled and sat the trays of food down. They stared at me and trembled a bit. It's normal, they haven't been here very long. They'll get used to this place after a while.

"Luke, Ashley, eat up. This is your lunch. After a while Phil and I will come down here with you two and talk. How does that sound? Fun, right?" I said

They both slightly nodded and I got up, leaving and shutting the door.
