Julie emerges into a grey room. She walks over to a nearby writing desk.
Aoi checks out a sign. "Beware of lips?"
"Say, Aoi, do you have a good memory?"
"Um...sure..." Aoi has a rather terrified expression that doesn't match what she says.
"One of us needs to remember: red 9. It seems like it's probably important."
"Okay. got it."
Julie starts to head up the nearby hallway, but stops to pick up a piece of paper. "Just when you've forgotten...forgotten what?"
"Maybe we shouldn't get near the walls...just in case. The message was right next to the wall, after all."
Julie carefully picks her way down the center of the hall. Near the end, a hand bursts out at her. She yelps and jump away. "Oh, wow. I had f-forgotten about those."
"So that's what they meant..."
Julie walks towards a door. "You think this is open?" She turns the knob. "Wow...that's a lot of paintings."
"Six of them?"
Julie examines the descriptions. "Hmm...a logic puzzle. Let me think." She re-reads them, writing notes in a small sketchpad she pulls out of the pocket that had the penlight in it. "Okay...I bet only one of them is telling the truth. And, if we slow down and look..." She writes a bit more in her notebook. "It's the one in brown."
"What is the one in brown saying?"
"It says that the answer is to stand in front of the statue, take 2 steps east, and take 4 steps north."
"Alright, let's try that, then."
Julie walks through the door. "Okay...here's the statue." She takes four steps to her right, and then two upwards. "Do I lift the panel, or what?"
"Why not t-try it?"
"Okay...red 9, purple 4. Got it."
Just then, a strange noise is heard from outside. "Wh-what was that?" asks Julie.
"I...I don't r-really wanna find out..."
"Well, there's nowhere else to go." Julie grimaces, and opens the door. She steps out, and screams. She rushes back into the room and buries her head against Aoi.
Aoi sees Julie's expression and pales, shaking violently. "Um...w-what's out th-there?!"
Julie just shakes her head. She closes her eyes and runs out into the hallway, avoiding looking at the paintings. Aoi does the same, slamming the door behind her. -If she's scared...it must be bad.-
Aoi checks the one that's on eye level, causing one of them to fall, making her squeak.
"Okay. Purple 4, green 18, and red 9."
Julie walks over to the door. "Hmm...it seems like this needs a pass-code. There's a hint here: green x*red x+purple x."
"166. It's 166."
"Well, at least one of us is good at math..." Julie punches it in. There is a sound, and the door opens.
They're in a room with a whole bunch of trees. "Oh, that one has an apple..."
Julie grabs it. "I could use a snack...oh, it's made of wood...Well, I'll keep it anyway!"
"Even if it wasn't wood, I'm not sure if eating it would be th-the best idea..."
