Invaded

Hi, my name is Lucas and I came out to my family 3 months ago. Well, I didn't come out, anyway here's how it happened.

I was at the wooden dinner table with my friend David. David has long brown hair down to his elbows. To describe it I would say boyinaband. My curly blond headed mom was over at the counter mixing mashed potatoes, my dad a short muscle guy sitting at the head of the table in his chair, and my ponytailed 6-year-old sister next to him on her 3DS. My mom and dad were discussing their work. My mom is a journalist and my dad is a bartender.

David and I were whispering when I told him I just got a boyfriend on Tumblr. He blurted out loud "oh my gosh really"?!" which attracted my family's attention.

My dad said in a strong husky voice "what are you talking about?"

David, thinking it was the safe group of friends that we have at school responded with "Lucas's boyfriend." He immediately knew what he did wrong and he grabbed his jacket and ran out. I sat there alone at the other side of the table, me vs them situation. My personal whispering has been invaded by my family.

"Lucas..."

I just bolted up from my chair and ran off. I sprinted to the front door and slammed it shut.

Down the street was a small broken down park. Rusted swing chains, graffitied steps, and cigarette buds.

I climbed up to the tallest point and plopped down, my only friend is the pair of the headphones I grabbed on the table before slamming the door and my phone. I put the headphones in and put on Breathe me by Sia.

While I was a human Niagra Falls, drenching my shirt with the explosions of my tears. David showed up with our friend Zach and Hailey. Zach climbed up in his brown leather jacket and black jeans. He pulled me up to sit and he rested his head on my shoulder only saying "I know buddy."

Hailey walked over and sat in a criss-cross position behind us just showing her support in her presence. Lastly, David sat on his knees at the bottom of the slide that was next to the ledge Zach and I were dangling our legs off of.
