"Please! Let me go!" The man begged, flattening himself to the ground to get away from the blade. I laughed in response. "You think I'm gonna let you go? I gotta admit! That was a pretty good joke." I smiled sadistically. He had tears in his eyes as he fearfully crawled away.
"Where are you going? Leaving so soon? I don't think so." I sadistically smiled, approaching the idiotic man. I raised my sword and penetrated the man's chest. The other bandits yelled in anger as they charged at me. The mysterious man who I had approached earlier, jumped in front of me, defending me. He fought off the men, but I wasn't gonna let him have all the fun.
I joined the fight. As I slashed my sword at a bandit, another attacked my legs and gave me a large cut on my calf. I yelled out a few curse words, pushing one man back. The man with a jacket fought an enemy off. We managed to scare them all away.
"Thanks," I began sarcastically, taking a look at my injury. "Are you alright?" He asked.
"I'll live. But you defended me. That was very noble of you. Thank you."
He only nodded in response, awkwardly standing there. He seemed uncomfortable. Was it the way I had acted towards that man? But this jacket guy had defended me anyways.
"Where is that village? I don't think I'm up for a treasure hunt."
"Down this path. There are good people there. Make any stupid moves, and I won't hesitate to kill you." He threatened. I nodded to show that I understood.
"See you there, maybe." I walked away. Whoever that man was, he was a good person. He was protecting his people.

As soon as I walked into the shadows, I was greeted by Addison. I hadn't spotted her before. She surprised me. I wasn't going to admit that she snuck up on me, though. "I saw everything." She trailed off, shyly rubbing her arms. I was upset that I didn't realize she had been there the whole time.
"So you know that I killed him."
"Yes. And thank you. As hard as it was to admit, I did want him dead. I honestly feel safer now. So thank you." I sighed and pulled her into my arms. It was obvious that she wanted comfort.
After wiping a tear away, she pulled me through the forest. "Let's follow that man to the village you were talking about."
We ended up reaching the gates of a village. "Hold on a second... Isn't that Pheonix Drop?" Addy asked. I nodded. They changed a lot. Sure, I have been in the forest on my own for a while before I met Addison, but it looked completely different. The gates were overgrown, and the trees were much larger.
My eyes widened in horror. Everything had changed after one encounter.

The cloaked woman smiled. She was relieved when she saw me. "Good. I found you." She sighed, racing to me and grabbing my wrist.
A light blinded me, causing me to close my eyes. Addison was whimpering in fear.
I looked around. Everything was white. "The fuck is this?" I asked angrily. "Where did you take us?" I continued, masking my fear with anger.
"You'll find out sooner or later! Don't worry. Just know that as long as you are here, things are going according to plan." She answered. "Just stay right here, okay?"
I went to attack the woman, but I was frozen. Why can't I move? What's wrong with me?
"Just wait. 14 minutes to go. I'm sure you can stay still for that time, yes?"
      "You bitch."

"Addison. That cloaked woman from 2 months ago. She didn't teleport us. She sent us forward in time."
Addy was at a loss for words. We were trying to process what had happened to us. Someone who can manipulate time the way that woman did is extremely powerful. I thought she was crazy, and that we should just forget about what happened, but there's no way that we could do that now. The changes we were observing, had to have happened in at least 10 years. Our old lives were gone. We missed countless things that we could never make up for. We were sent years into the future without a second thought.
"Think of all the things we've missed," Addy whispered, holding her hand over her mouth. I could only nod. All that we knew was gone.
After a good 10 minutes, we accepted what had happened.
"We need to move on. If you would like, you may go into the village, but I am not comfortable with being around so many people that I'm not sure if I can trust. I will be in the shadows watching."
Addison nodded and responded quietly. "I'll stay with you,"

I decided that I would take a nap before watching things happen in the village. After cleaning and wrapping my wound of course. Addy stayed on a lower branch doing something I never cared to figure out. I needed to sleep.
"Open your eyes." A voice demanded. I sat up quickly, looking around. A woman in a long angelic dress was in the tree with us. She looked a lot like Addison. And me. Addison and I shared a few qualities, like our facial structure and eye color.
"I am your mother." She said firmly. I pretended to be excited, almost, and I didn't have to fake my surprise. "You're my mother?"
"Yes," She answered with her soft voice. "Then fuck you! All you left was my brother's name. I grew up without a goddamn name you bitch! Who leaves two 4 years old kids to fend for themselves?" I was angry. This witch abandons me, and here she is, all proud to be my mother after 16 years.
"Addison, I am your mother." She completely ignored me, even though she wore a hurt expression. "What a bitch. Like I'll fucking believe you anyway." I mumbled to myself, laying back down. It was obvious the woman wasn't physically there, so I was just going to listen to what she had to say.
"Um... Uh..." Addy seemed awkward, not sure what to say. "I have come to inform you that I exist. I never wanted to leave any of you. It was planned years ago, that we would bring you to Pheonix Drop at this time. I understand that you are not completely willing to listen to me, but please believe me when I say these things.
"It wasn't planned that you would grow up without a mother. Nor was your brother almost dying."
I shot up. "What? Are you telling me that her- and by your claims, my- brother is still alive?" She nodded. Her expression was very relaxed.
"How? How could he live from that?" I questioned. The woman thought for a moment before explaining. "When I found him, he was still breathing. You didn't stay long enough to realize that he was still alive."

Addison jumped up. "Where is he? I need to see him!" I felt guilty. Not only had I tried and thought that I succeeded in killing her- maybe even my- brother, but I left him to suffer.
No. I can't believe her unless I see him. And I will only believe that it is him if Addison says so.
"You will find him soon enough. If you stay around this village, you will meet soon." She said. Everything she said was genuine. Her expressions were real. She was telling the truth.

I woke up from my uncomfortable position and stretched. Addison was peeking out over the trees, watching Pheonix Drop, I assumed. I climbed up further into the tree to join her, and indeed she was looking at the village.
"Morning," I mumbled groggily. She hummed. "Morning. I'm still trying to process what our mother said last night." I sighed. "We don't know if she's telling the truth. How are we supposed to know if it's true?" I questioned.
She frowned, turning to me. "But we're so alike. It's so easy to believe it because it makes a lot of sense. We look alike, we have the same eye color and similar body shape. It's hard not to believe."

For the past two months, Addison and I had been watching the village. The people seemed trustworthy, and we learned quite a lot. Some things were just about the people, but other things were shocking. We weren't the only ones who traveled further into the future.
