Your POV
Justin and I were roaming around the grocery store when we heard a loud clap of thunder outside.
I stood on the edge of the cart as he wheeled me along every aisle, picking up item after item. Every once in a while he'd push the cart (and me) to the opposite end and try to shoot a basket. I laughed and shook my head.
"Did we get everything, princess?" He jokingly kneeled and lifted up his hand to guide me off of the cart.
"Yes we did my prince." I extended my hand and jumped the 4 inches between me and the ground.
As we checked out, we watched the pouring rain hit the pavement outside. Uh oh. We parked on the other end of the parking lot... Great.
"Nooo I don't want to get all wet.." I whined as Justin reached his arms around me to grab hold of the cart. He started walking toward the exit.
"Looks like your trapped now," he smirked.
We were under the awning of the building, wind pushing the rain in our faces. Justin looked at me.
"Alright, here's the plan: RUN!" He shouted and I laughed as we sprinted through the dark and empty parking lot. I screamed as the water soaked into my clothes. We passed space after space and the car still wasn't in sight. Finally, we see it through the storm, Justin was behind me with the cart.
"JUSTIN, KEYS!" I shouted, gesturing for him to toss me the car keys. He searched his pockets and looked up at me.
"No you didn't." I said.
"I did," he said back.
"YOU GO BACK AND GET THEM. I'LL WAIT HERE." I shouted as he ran back to get the keys he had left at the register. I love that man but sometimes he's a real doofus.
I put my back on the car and slid down to the ground, absorbing all the water like a sponge. Glancing over at the cart with all of our soaked food, I took my hair out of its bun and let it fall to my face. I sat and waited.
Finally, I see him running through the darkness. He stopped running and walked over to me, dropping the keys on the ground. Before I could get up, he laid down and put his head in my lap. I combed my fingers through his wet hair and closed my eyes, listening to the sound of the rain and panting breath.
Once Justin regained his energy, he got up. Before I could push myself up, he lifted me off the ground and pressed me to the car. Our faces were inches apart. I wrapped my legs around his waist and slid my hands around his neck.
"I'm sorry I made you wait," he said, pretending to pout. I shook my head and smiled.
"Whatever."
He leaned forward and our lips locked together. I felt the warmth of this breath as his face pressed against mine. In that moment nothing else mattered, not the rain slipping down our faces, not our wet groceries. We've kissed many times before, but this one was different. I swear I fall in love with him more every time.
"I love you," he said pulling back.
"I love you too," I replied.
"I want to promise you something."
"Yes?" His body still pressed mine against the car, I looked into his eyes.
"I promise you that I will love you as much as I possibly can. I'll take care of you and be there for you whenever you need me. I'll be honest with you and I'll trust you with all of my heart," he looked down at the ground, nervous for my reaction. I put my finger below his chin and raised it up so that he looked into my eyes.
"You promise me that?"
"Mark my words." He smiled that big goofy smile and kissed me one last time.
"Now let's get out of this rain!"
