We were still staring at each other. Me and Weston I mean. It wasn't long until Uncle Ben released me from the bear hug and dragged me inside to patch me up. That was when my eyes ripped away from the boy seated in his vehicle.

I had a slight limp going up the porch steps, my ankle kind of twisted when she pushed me down. I wonder if Weston was going to wait for me or if he was just going to drive away and tell everyone what life at home is for me.

It was Saturday today, Uncle Ben didn't have work. He called for the day off to "look" for me.

I sat down at my usual spot at the kitchen and waited there until he came back down the stairs with our small first aid kit.

"Why don't you...why don't speak up?" I croaked.

"Huh?"

"I mean, she's been hitting me ever since I got here. And you've done nothing-" the door bell rang, oh no.

"I'll go get that-"

"No, I will it's fine Rikki." My Uncle Ben stopped me before I could continue.

He walked towards the door and opened it hesitantly probably thinking my aunt was ready for round two.

"Oh, um hello-"

Weston stepped under my uncles left arm that he just so happened to have leisurely resting on the doorframe. "Hello sir," he turned around to face him and held out his right hand to shake Uncle Ben's, "my name is Koury, Weston Koury. And you are?"

"Just call me Ben, um why are you here? Rikki is this your frie-"

"No!-um I mean yeah I guess. Um Weston can you like wait outside for a b-"

"Hi Rikki didn't see you there so I'm just going to wait in your room..." He started walking up the stairs to soon come back down. "Um, where is it?"

"Basically...it's the attic." I closed my eyes in disappointment and looked down.

When I looked back up I saw Weston nod and grin with a thumbs up, "meet you there..." He dragged the last word as he headed up the many stairs.

Me and uncle Ben both looked up in the direction he was going until we heard the door slam.

"I'm going to be a teacher for five minutes and start by saying explain and give reasoning."

I sighed like a normal teen and looked to the ceiling while doing so and began, "met 'im at school earlier this week and he invited me to a party, we talked and next thing I know I wake up on his couch..." I couldn't tell him the exact details now can I?

Uncle Ben jutted out his bottom lip, slightly widened his eyes and nodded, "fair enough-now reasoning."
