As Daniella walked onto the bus to go to school the next day, she saw a boy sitting alone. She had never seen him before, he must be new. She sat down next to him. "Hi! My name's Daniella, what's yours?" He smiled at her. "I'm Dan, nice to meet you." She laughed. "Dan? Really? My mom calls me Dan, so that's pretty ironic." Dan smiled once again. That's when Daniella realized that Dan was not just a sweet guy, he was actually pretty attractive as well. After school, Dan and Daniella sat on the bus again. On the way home, Daniella told Dan about her situation with her mom, who does not believe she is a girl. She explained that she is transgender, but everyone she meets says it's a 'phase'. "Well, I think your a girl, and I'll not ever call you Dan if you don't want me to." That was the moment that Daniella realized Dan was the only person who had ever said that to her. And as she waved goodbye to him from her front yard, she decided she had a crush on him. The only problem was that everyone was just going to say that 'he' was gay. Except that 'he' is a 'she'. Why does no one except Dan seem to understand that?
