Jack stared endlessly at the wall of photos which surrounded his small dark room. Each photo was a memory which tugged on his fragile and broken heart, each one making his eyes water in the corners, then slowly letting the tears fall over. Jack wiped them away though; he couldn’t take them down, he didn’t want to forget them. They all had a special place in his mind and in his heart, and taking them down would result in losing a part of my brain what seemed vital to him.
He missed him. No, that didn’t seem to be the right phrase to describe how Jack was feeling. He wanted him to be back in my arms, and for him to stay there. The scent which he always wore lingered at the back of Jack’s nose, causing him to smile but sob quietly to himself. How could he have been so stupid? He knew he was scared, he was frightened. Jack wasn’t there when Dean wanted, needed, him the most. He was suffering and Jack was too blind to notice it. He had been selfish.
“Don’t go too far! I’m scared of places like this.” Jack whispered to Dean, his hands covering his closed eyes.
“Stop being such an idiot, I’m not going to run off forever. It’s just small game of hide and seek.” Dean murmured; Jack could feel his breath under his own jaw.
“Okay, I trust you.”
Jack took a deep breath in and tried not to concentrate on what he could hear around him. It was Dean’s idea to bring him to a forest; he said it would be fun. My god did Jack love that kid, but Dean was the adventurous one, Jack didn’t like places where he could easily get lost in. Jack didn’t hear any footsteps. Dean hadn’t moved yet, he always loved to scare Jack.
With the smallest touch, Dean reached up to the taller boys lips and pressed his own against them.
“Come and get me.” Dean whispered seductively before turning and running into the dark oblivion that the forest created.
Tears fell from Jack’s eyes and stained his pale face. If tears could leave scars, his face would be broken into tiny shards which could probably never be put back together again. He tried to wipe them away but they kept falling, soon making the rim of his t-shirt wet. He rolled onto his side and traced the corner of his duvet in line with the tears to soak them up.
He silently cursed himself for rolling towards the wall. A picture of Dean and himself was celotaped onto to it. Jack was pulling that stupid smug face he always had done, whilst Dean had a confused look on his face. They were both in hats with fake moustaches above their top lip.
“Balls deep my friend.” Jack smiled in-between his silent sobs.
Those were the days when they weren’t together, the days where making each other laugh and filming funny sketches was their only importance.
After 30 seconds of counting, Jack opened his weary eyes and tried to focus on what was around him. As if he completely forgot what the world looked like. The forest was dark yet inviting, the darkness almost begging for him to join it. Jack took a timid few steps forward, before realising that nothing was going to hurt him. He turned to look around him, before jogging into its depths.
Every small gap of light which protruded from the over head canopy looked like small eyes focusing in on Jacks pale body. He shivered.
“Just ignore it Jack.” He told himself silently.
