Predenting to be asleep doesn't work

A young boy was sleeping in his bed one usual night. Suddenly, he heard footsteps outside his room, and peeks out to see what's happening. The door swings open quietly to reveal a murderer holding the corpse of his dead parents. After quietly propping the dead bodies of his parents on a chair, the man writes on the wall with the blood of the dead bodies. Then he hides under the child's bed. The kid is scared beyond beliefs. He can't read the writings on the wall and he knows the guy is under the bed. Like any child, he pretends that he slept through the whole thing and hasn't woken up yet. He lays there as still as the bodies and quietly hears the breathes under the bed. An hour passes and his eyes adjust more and more to the darkness. He tries to make out the words but it's a struggle. He gasp when he finally makes out the sentence. "I know you're awake." He feels something shift underneath his bed.
