What is the color of evil? The first answer to this question is black solely because it’s dark. The darkness is just misinterpreted, though. People fear going into the unknown, and that’s all that is available in the color black. What people don’t realize is that we have to step into the unknown all the time. People don’t always know what they’re getting into, but they continue to follow through with it. Does that make them evil? Of course not. On another note, there are some people who find safety while hiding in the pitch black. Evil can neither be witnessed daily nor provide a feeling of secureness.

Red may be the next guess. The fiery inferno used to be thought of as evil since it was associated with the devil and his lair. It can be a menacing color, reminding everyone of it’s burning abilities. However, it cannot be forgotten that red is also the color of hate and love - balancing out the two extremes of the world. So can evil really be represented by red it it’s merely a very powerful emotion? Passion is not evil.

The last color one may guess would probably be white. It was destined to be pure and “good” because it is untarnished by any other colors. Yet how can something truly be beneficial if it has remained unaffected? Flawless or inexperienced? Innocence may be the most dangerous in generalsince it does not know what is out there; a single brush at the ground leaves it permanently stained with dirt. Despite this,Uncertainty is not evil.

A second question: where can evil be found? Children worry about monsters licking their razor-like teeth in closets, under beds, or anywhere dark. It brings us back to why people would first assume black is evil. People seem to have forgotten something, though. True power is the ability to endure something one hates, something painful, something terrible. As horrifying as it sounds, the most prevailing evil can be found in broad daylight. It cannot be defined by color or appearance. It will try to reason with you, and when it doesn’t get what it wants, it will lash out. Evil is something that lies within until an emotion strong enough to rupture the core of a being is triggered. Thus maybe everyone has the ability to become evil; one just needs to love an idea enough to destroy the whole world for it.

This is dedicated to my 5th grade teacher because she was the first one who said I was good at writing and that I should become an author. Sure, it was elementary school, but it's stayed with me for all these years. So thank you, even though you'll probably never see this. This is what I have become!
