Hollywood Undead came on first as I started my four mile jog, two miles out and two miles back. Every Saturday and Sunday I jog first thing in the morning, so everyone in the house knows where I am, not that I care though. A couple minutes later I saw some kid that I knew from school walking his dog. He waved at me so I nodded my head at him in greeting, but neither one of us stopped.
When I met my two mile mark I turned around and ran the same way I just came from. For some reason though, I was sprinting. Soon, I saw that kids dog walking on the sidewalk, without the kid. I stopped and grabbed the dog's leash, I looked around for the owner and took my headphones out, listening carefully. I heard some painful grunts and groans in the alley up the street. I put my headphones back in and went to investigate after tying the dog lightly to a fencepost.
I turned into the alley and saw three kids relentlessly kicking someone on the ground. Now, I may not know the kid but I can't just let him get beaten senselessly.
"Hey!" I shouted as I ran to the group of three, gaining their attention. I must have interrupted their fun because they did not look happy. As I closed in a brought my knee up and rammed it into one of the kids chest, knocking him backwards and out. The second one threw a huge haymaker, I ducked under it and got behind the kid. I grabbed him by the waist and heaved him up and backwards, slamming him onto his upper shoulders and head. I got back up and football tackled the last kid, ground pounding him until his eyes shut. Even after that, I kept punching him, over and over again. Bringing my hand high over my head and slamming it down onto his face with all my power. Eventually, the owner of the dog stopped me by grabbing my shoulder. I turned to him and ripped his hand off my shoulder. "Don't touch me when i'm angry mate," I growled at him, meeting his eyes with my own.
"Hey, it's me Xavier, from school. Remember me? Thanks for saving me back there." He said to me, his tone calm, like he was trying to make me relax. "I thought they were going to beat me dead to be honest, no telling when they would have stopped."
"How come they were interested in your blood mate?" I asked him, I was able to slow down my breathing and get my heart to a normal pace. I still felt anger in my gut though, like a power flooding through my veins.
"I don't know to be honest, something about looking at their girls. Maybe they felt like beating up a brother."
"Alright, well I tied your dog to a fencepost around the corner. You should get home bruv, be safe."
"Thanks again John, see you in school sometime." He said with a nod, and ran to get his dog. Checking over his shoulder every couple of steps.
I finished my run, walking into the house by eight. Everyone finished eating breakfast and were just lounging around. Everyone knows about my running so my absence wasn't a big deal. I went into the dojo, looking around to see if anyone else was in here. When I'm absolute sure I grab a polypheren Gladius. Being brought up in a karate traditional house, mixed with catholicism I found the need to discover other lifestyles. I found I have a bigger love of the Roman sword, and a more Greek mythology mindset. Once I stretched out a bit I walked to the middle of the dojo and began going over self made forms.
I took off my sweaty shirt and went through the motions smoothly. Halfway through the form I heard light footsteps coming down the stairs. I turned and slashed at the same time, surprising Hayley. I stood upright with my sword off to my side, "Hey," I asked, "How are you feeling?"
"Better, thanks to you." She was blushing slightly, as always. I thought it was cute to be honest, she told me she always felt embarrassed when she blushed which is understandable.
Like one time, I dropped a Mcdonalds bag on her lunch table at school and she looked up at me, brighter than a tomato. Right in front of all her friends, who I think are jealous of her, but why shouldn't they be? I'm a senior who takes interest in a freshy.
"So, what's up?" I asked, breaking the silence. She was still staring at me, and my voice shook her out of dreamy state.
"Oh, just getting ready for class," she spoke in a questioning tone, like I should already know.
"Oh crap it's already 12?" Looking up at the clock I realized Dan's dad's classes were going to start soon. "I gotta get ready, i'll be right back." I ran off into the weight room and got changed into a tanktop and gi pants. As I walked through the door the dojo started to fill with the 10-14 classes. Only about 12 of them showed up, which isn't as good as usual, but it's still good.
Hayley was talking to some students as Dan was conversing with parents. Mr. Kinley came downstairs and informed the students to line up. Dan and I took either side of Mr. Kinley as he led class through the routine warm-up. Hayley was first in line, since she was the oldest. We faced the class and they faced us. Soon enough, warm ups were done and Mr. Kinley told us to gear up for sparring.
