Chapter Six

I woke with a start. For a moment, I couldn't figure out what had woken me up, and looking at the clock, I saw the ungodly hour of 4 am. I groaned and rolled over with the intent of falling back asleep, but a sharp whine from Dux brought me back to the world of consciousness and I sighed.

I clamored out of bed and slowly made my way downstairs. Dux had to go out and because of Evan's early morning schedule he used to be the one to do it. Now that he was gone, I was left to unlock the dog door and feed him in the mornings. The brisk February air had be slamming the door closed behind Dux as he wandered out. I put a cup of food in his dog dish and flicked the lock on the top of the dog door before meandering back upstairs, focused on the extra 2 hours of sleep I was intent on getting.

I slide into the sheets and curl up on my side, closing my eyes. I try to focus on my breathing, but I remember the feeling of Danny's hand on my thigh and feel my body tense. I groan, opening my eyes and rolling onto my back. Why did Danny's hand make me want to shred him to bits, but Jax's hand made me react in a completely different way.

I pull a pillow over my head and sigh into it. I rip the sheets away from me and quickly change into some workout gear. If I was up, I might as well make the best out of it.

I tromp downstairs and into the basement, I put my body into a full workout regimen. Let's just think of it as a punishment for going all gooey at just a single touch from Jaxon.

No, I wasn't a virgin, but neither of the two guys I slept with gave me such an intense reaction from just a touch. I puff out an angry breath before dropping to the ground and forcing myself to do pushups. I focused on the burn in my shoulders and biceps instead of the pull behind my bellybutton from the thought of Jaxon. I adjust my hand position and start doing military push-ups, but Jaxon still creeps into the edges of my mind.

I growl before stand up and striding towards the stereo system in the corner. I blare angry, workout music and start on the leg press.

At 6 am, I was exhausted, but I still couldn't get Jaxon to completely leave my mind. I am so completely and royally screwed.

I pull my aching body up the two flights of stairs before flinging myself through my room and into an icy shower. I scrub the sweat and grimy feeling from my skin and step out of the shower. I get ready in my normal routine and flop into a seat in my kitchen. I didn't have to leave for school for at least another hour, and I had nothing to do. I grabbed my laptop and sent emails to all my teachers, asking for a write up of all assignments and when they were due. I then browsed Facebook for the next 20 minutes, giggling at adorable animal videos and rolling my eyes at the new pictures posted by Riker.

I'm guessing they partied a little too hard, given he was sporting new lip ring. I chuckled at his goofy face and liked the picture. A few minutes later, my phone buzzes with a text from him and I give a sad smile. I miss my nerds.

I reply before grabbing an apple from the bowl on the table and closing my laptop. I grab a set of keys from the small bowl by the garage and stride towards my favorite car. My dad had always been a huge fan of cars, leaving my brother and I quite a few of them. I always helped him tune them and tinker around. I couldn't help but grin at the pure black, 1968 Chevy Camaro.

Sliding into the smooth leather seat, I settle back and start the engine. I race to school, loving the power of the car beneath me and the guttural roar of the engine as I pushed the speedometer upwards of 80 mph. I grudgingly slowed as I entered town and pulled into the school parking lot. I softy shut the car door and I stepped out and hitched my bag higher on my shoulder.

I glared at a group of jocks who were eyeing my car and strode confidently into the hallways. Flinging my locker door open, I jump when it stops abruptly, caught by a large, knuckly boy hand. My gaze travels from the hand to a chiseled jaw and pink lips. My heart speeds up and I force my eyes to continue upwards until they lock with Jax's own baby-blues. I can tell by the slight crinkling on the edges that he's smirking at me and I scowl back. I shove my bag into my locker and grab a pen and a notebook and wrenching the door from his grip, I slam it closed and walk away.

"Hey now!" he calls to me, "Is that any way to treat your best friend?" I roll my eyes and flip him off over my shoulder. "Don't be like that, Lee! I know you're falling for me!"

I whip around and cock my head at him. "Are you sure you're not just projecting your own feelings?" I grin at his confused look before taking off again, my heart beating just a little bit too hard for my liking.

I go through classes like normal, making snarky remarks and blowing off any punishment thrown my way. I was happy to see Danny had scooted as far away from me as his chair would let him. I grinned at him and he just glared straight ahead. I kicked my feet up on the table and was satisfied to see him flinch.

My good mood lasted until lunch when Jaxon cornered me yet again.

"So, what is this I hear about you threatening a jock?" He looks almost smug and I roll my eyes.

"He tried to make an unwanted move and I put him in his place." I shrug, "no big deal." Jaxon scoffs and nudges my shoulder. I feel my heartbeat increase at the contact, but try my hardest to ignore it.

"You kicked ass and stormed out of class."

"Well I am just that fucking kick ass." I give a shit-eating grin and his eyes focus in on my lips. I quickly look away and pretend not to have noticed.

"I bet you couldn't kick my ass." He turns his nose up and looks like the asshole I know he is.

"I could kick your ass every day and twice on Sundays." I flick a fry at him and he blinks hard when it smacks him in the face.

"You can always out bitch me, but I doubt that you could beat me at anything worth-while. Like fighting or videogames." I grin at him.

"Wanna bet?" My competitive side raises its confident head and I get excited. After playing with my boys for so long, I've gotten pretty damn good at gaming.

"What do I get if I win?" He grins right back and I curse his ancestors for being so goddamn attractive.

"I admit you're better than me, same thing goes if I win." He sticks his hand out and I shake it.

"Game on." I stand up and dispose of my leftover food.

"You coming or what?" I look over at him still sitting at the table.

"Little Ms. Bad-girl is gonna skip?" He fakes being shocked and I gently punch his arm.

"Come on, so I can kick your ass and record your admission of me being superior." He scoffs and jumps up from his seat to join me.

"Like that's going to happen."

A/N

So sorry for the long ass wait!!

I've gotten so wrapped up in college that all motivation and/or ideas have flown away, never to be seen again! D':

I'm seriously stuck. 100% and have no clue as to where the story is going. We'll see what I can pull from the depths of my creative mind, and hopefully it won't suck. No promises.
