For a few more nights, Vincent and Scott worked together. The sixth or seventh night, Scott was being serious and had his mask right side up. Vincent laid across the desk, growing bored of the night shift as the hours ticked on. They'd both been talking about nothing, until Scott cleared his throat, looking away.
"Vincent?"
Vincent tilted his head, leaning up a bit, sending a stack of paperwork flying to the floor. "Yes?"
"Do you ever think... I dunno, that there's more to the world than what we see?"
Vincent sat up. Geez, a week in with this guy and he was already being asked about his beliefs? "... elaborate."
"I mean, we could change life at any second. Make it, or end it... cause someone's to be better or worse..." Scott was up now, pacing about the room. "What's stopping us, Vincent? What's holding us back?"
"I dunno, uh..." He shrugged flippantly. "The law?"
"I think," Scott said as he slammed his hands on the desk. "that you and I deserve more than we get in life. Everyone does. Everyone should have some of that power."
"I'm listening."
"... that's all I got."
Vincent chuckled. "No plan for world domination?"
Scott leaned back in his chair with a smile. "Not yet, Vincent... not yet."
Vincent looked back to his tablet without a second thought.
