I wake up in a sweat. I look over at the other Gladers. They're all still asleep peacefully. I wipe the sweat from my forehead. Today is the day. Today I'm going into the Maze. I'm exited and terrified all at the same time. I look over at Lynn. Lynn came here a week before me. She'll also be going into the Maze for the first time today.

I've been her for 5 weeks now. Lynn 6. With our memories swiped, I had no idea what was going on. Lynn was the one who helped me out of the box first, then we become great friends from then on.

We were both told last week that we'd be runners for the Maze. We've been training ever since then, but this will be the first time either of us goes into the Maze. But we wont be going alone. We'll be with our group that I've been training with; our instructor, Nora, told us we'd be going into the Maze 2 days ago.

I look over at Lynn again. Still asleep. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see a dark shape move by Lynn. I panic; move up to a sitting position. Then I realize that its Nora, trying to waking up Lynn.

Good luck, I think. Then realize that that means I have to get up too. It isn't even light out.

"Good morning" I say when Nora comes to wake me. She smiles, I can see her out line in the dim light. She has bold shoulders, a small stomach, and big, strong legs from being a runner.

"Good morning to you too, ready to start training?" she asks. I can hear her smiling

"This early? I thought you hated mornings."

"Ah, I do, but this is a big day for you guys. We want to be in the Maze for as long as possible" she starts to walk away to wake other sleeping runner trainees. I crawl over to Lynn and shake her.

"Rise and shine sweetie," I say in a sing song voice. She groans and throws her pillow at me. We both laugh.

"Today is the big day," I tell her.

"I know," she says and rolls her eyes.

"I wonder what type of stretches Nora will make us do." Nora likes to push us as hard as we can. Its crazy, but I guess it'll help us in the long run.

"I hope its not suicides again," Lynn says through a yawn.

"Well, what ever it is, lets be clean for it. Lets go to the showers," I say standing up. I have to help Lynn up since she's still in a sleep haze. We walk over to the shower together.
