How much further do I have to walk! My feet are cracking from all of this.
Sometimes I felt a little guilty for listening to everyone's thoughts, but its not like I could help it. Mari was the most interesting, seeing as she was a doll. She was probably the only live doll in the world, not to mentions she was huge. For a doll. Julius was obsessed with her, in the worst way you can be obsessed. I switched my focus to him for a second, listening to what he was thinking.
I hope Marionette's keeping up with us, with her feet being glass it must be difficult to walk fast, maybe I should slow down a bit...
I rolled my eyes as his walking slowed slightly. Apparently the newest member of the group was the only other to notice, because she sat down for a moment on a log, knowing she could catch up easily. Even if she couldn't see Julius and Mari through the trees- most of them had a radius of at least 6 feet- she wouldn't be lost, because of her mutt. Ugh, I was never a fan of dogs. They drooled, and stank. I had always loved cats though, soft, calm, independent. When I saved the girl from the asylum I didn't know she would be keeping the wolf. Even I, who hated dogs, could see it's beauty though. The fur was as white as Zelena's skin. I had eavesdropped into Zelena's thoughts to see if her wolf was also albino, but I couldn't tell, she never thought of that. Mostly she thought of her friend from the asylum, Amy, and how she would free her. With Julius's generosity we would probably be back there in a few months. Although he didn't want anymore members, he wouldn't mind having one or two more. But with me the fight was basically a done deal. I saw pictures in his mind many times about where we would fight, and then a smile would appear on his face as he imagined me using telekinesis to turn them all to ash. Although I was powerful, I couldn't do all of them at once. The only I knew that was strong enough for that was the lady in the shack... I smiled as I thought of her rotting away slowly in that cottage. I didn't know what she was, but everything rots away eventually, when they don't move, and don't speak. I shook her clear of my thoughts, desperate to think of something else. I started eavesdropping on Zelena's thoughts again. She didn't think she was crazy. She thought it was completely normal to see her mother, guiding her along the way. I could see her too, when she was actually there. Zelena's mother visited her often, but never for simple things like a talk. I saw Zelena talk out loud to the mother she had only imagined, something about their old house, and her step sister. She was nice enough, but you could see how lonely she was.
Mary seems nice, maybe she would be my friend...
Just what I needed. Another team member obsessed with Mari. Or was it Mary? As Zelena had thought? I guess I had thought of it wrong. But it did make for sense for it to be spelled Mari, considering her name is Marionette. Me and Zelena called her Mary, but Julius always used her full name. Zelena's thoughts referred to me as the Shadow Lady, with a capital 'S' when she was thinking about me. Julius wanted desperately to know my real name, but I insisted he call me Shadow, my real name didn't fit me anymore.
"Here we are!" Said Julius, a smirk on his face. Something about him was always mysterious, and attractive.
"A tree?" I said out loud, answering his thoughts instead of his words. I saw pictures in his mind of the tree in front of us, with a radius of about 10 feet. Not irregular considering the size of the trees around it. The inside, at least according to his thoughts, was a real house. He lead Mary and Zelena through a log, as least a few feet away. They crouched as they went through it, while I just moved through the shadows -little 's's- behind them. I saw all of the translucent bodies around me, and wondered why the dead never had much interest in coming to talk to me. I wasn't exactly 'friendly' though, so I could understand. We started slowly descending, and I could see that we were now underground, moving towards the tree Julius had pointed out. After a few feet, there was a wooden door, clearly hand carved. Julius pushed it open and walked into the base of the tree, with wooden stairs leading upwards. on this floor there was a living room, and even a small kitchen around the corner. The furniture all seemed hand carved, and had a very classic look about it.
"Welcome to your new home, demons." Julius said, a smirk on his face as he walked up the stairs winding around the tree. I snorted and came completely out of the shadows, startling the mutt. It growled at me, and I growled back before following Julius. The next floor was a narrow hallway, with what looked like 4 small rooms on either side. There were our named carved above them, clearly showing who's was who's. I noted that mine was the furthest on the right. On the other side of the hallway was another flight of stairs, and I didn't follow Julius because I knew it was just another four rooms.
Just in case. I heard him think. Mary and Zelena were impressed, asking several questions. I went into the room that was labeled with my name and looked around. There was a very small window to one side, that from the outside would just look like a knot in the tree. The bed had basic white and cream sheets on it, and there was a bookshelf built into the wall. It looked very majestic, in a weird way. I opened some more doors on the right wall, a closet. I nodded my head, slightly impressed. I would need to add some personal touches, as I heard Zelena's thoughts already plan them out, as she stood in her room. Her's was next to mine, and Julius was next to Mary. Subtle. I stayed in my room as Julius explained that if you went below the bottom floor you would reach a training room, filled with weapons and hard concrete walls. Julius didn't so much as think about me coming downstairs, he seemed to respect my space. Good. I had only joined him because I wanted to lie low for a while. Killing a lot of people makes you pretty well known, and I had killed hundreds in a matter of one night. Julius knocked on my door, and I was surprised. Something that hadn't happened for a while. I opened the door with my thoughts as I noticed another storage space in the floor, under my bed. Clever.
"For you to fill this with." Said Julius, handing me a thick wad of money. My eyes widened, there must have been five thousand dollars there. It's not much money, but I didn't know how he could have gotten it. He didn't have a job. I shrugged and didn't question it, giving him a thanks. It would be more than enough to get some books, maybe some carpet. I nod in thanks, and float through the floor to the couch. I look around me, and see the people that were going to help protect me. And I feel almost... thankful. Even to the mutt.

So yeah. I'm going to add the cover by the end of the week, so look forward to that. If you want to.
ALSO: I did update the fourth part of this story, because it was boring and rushed. So if you would go check it out it would explain a lot. Actually it wouldn't. It would explain a bit.
