The date was April 1st, 4057, and the concept of time-travel was still bewildering. Nobody had managed to unlock the clasp on time-travel, all those who have attempted it burning up or dying in other, more terrifying ways. Nevertheless, a man has tried countless times to crack that acorn, him feeling that he was closer than anybody had tried to reach before.
The dark-brown haired man, it mostly appearing like night black, but in the sun at the right angle it would show a cool chocolate, walked past a few people wearing lab coats like himself, all their pristine smiles showing as he heard them talk. Getting to his office, the door having a little window at the top, the fit man grabbing the door and opening it gently.
"I was beginning to think you'd skip town," Danse commented, him being the frackle-coated man's best friend. "So, Michael, gonna stand there or say hello?" He teased.
"Good morning Dan," Michael replied, a small smile coming across both of their faces. Michael, him being a few inches shorter than the average sized Danse, had to look up at him a tad, but it didn't bother either of them.
"Good mornin' Michael," Danse stated back at him, the black haired man looked down at Michael, but seemed to be happy about it. "You seem to be getting shorter." He mocked.
Instantly, Michael scowled, his eyebrows furrowed. "Maybe you're getting taller." He bitterly stated, Danse just laughed calmly at the response.
"Easy, easy, otherwise your hair will turn white." Danse replied, pointing out the little streak of hair at the front of where Michael's hair started that was as white as snow, or a piece of freshly cut paper, it curling clightly as his short hair was wavy. "Don't want you to look like Mr. Wilkins do we?" Danse joked, Michael followed with a sigh.
"I would, if that old man had any hair left on his head," Michael comented. Danse laughed, agreeing on the statement. The two walked into one of the large rooms after they walked for a while, a large machine sitting in the center.
A woman named Victoria was behind a computer, he dainty, ebony figure, with her light, flowing hair, was typing as fast as she could on the keys, typing a final report. The woman next to her, covered in oil spots and had thick knots of blonde rolled into a bun, was Gertrude. She had an extreamly large build, a bit of fat on her extreamly muscular, tall build, her bright green eyes always locked in a gentle scowl. "Good morning guys!" Michael was calling out, the two women smiling and waving, the two guys waltzing over to talk.
Before Michael got another word in, Gertrude picked him up in a bear hug, the German accent thick when she spoke. "There's the scientist," She stated, Michael not able to breathe.
"Easy there Gert, you might collapse his lungs," Victoria laughed while she spoke, Michael nodding.
"Cant...breathe..." Michael muttered weakly, Gertrude quickly putting him down and patting his head.
"Sorry."
"It's alright," He replied, Daniel smirked somewhat.
"So, are we going to get this show on the road or what?" Danse asked, the group nodding.
"Yes, everything is ready to go." Victoria began to speak, Michael smiling. "We should get the test monkey in h--"
Michael laughed. "Test monkey? No!" He seemed overjoyed at the whole thing while the others looked confused. "I'm going to do it!" Everyone looked at him as if he was a madman.
"Mich, I don't think that's a god ide--" Danse began to say.
"I'll be fine," Michael shouted hapily. He got into the machine, it being almost like a capsule with clasps on the inside and outside of the clear walls. It was tiny enough to hold one person, and Michael looked at all the lights that flashed and colored liquids. Before the group could grab him, he quickly stepped into the capsule, locking it from the inside. "Come on! Nothing bad will happen!" He was as giddy as a five year old.
Victoria sighed and nodded, the group figuring nothing could go wrong. "Alright, but just a few minutes into the future , then we'll bring you back." Michael nodded and after a while the capsule filled with some sort of chemical, Michael breathed it in.
"Why hasn't he jumped yet?" Danse asked, the group began to panic as Michael began to look worried. Before anyone knew what was going on, Michael was banging on the bullet-proof glass of the machine, the glass seeming to bounce his fists back like nats against a screen door. His screams were cut silent, the group only able to see his mouth open so wide that his jaw looked like it was going to unhinge.
"Get him out of there!" Gertrude shouted with Danse, him going to the machine and trying to unlock the failsafe clasps.
"I--I cant!" Victoria shouted.l, her fingers trying to code past the alarm.
Michael felt lightheaded, the room seeming to almost spin like some sort of rampaging marry-go-round, or some boat with only one paddle. He went form standing to sitting in the ground, him leaning on the glass and banging on the glass. Screaming, Michael's breath left him, soon followed by his voice.
The three outside couldn't hear his cries, but they were struck silent by Michael collapsing inside the capsule. The three began to panic, the vitals not showing him in any sort of other time, otherwise his heart would still be beeping. As the three slowed down, the silence filled the room.
"He's..." Danse began slowly.
The three seemed Sorrow struck for a while, not one of them moving. However, the beep of the monitor was like music, it showing Michael was still alive. "Did he.. Did he make it?" Gertrude asked, Victoria smiling.
"Yes!" She exclaimed happily.
Everything else began as planned, Danse soon going into the other chamber, Gertrude giving him a piece of special technology before he went. What it does was somewhat of a mystery. But who doesn't love a good mystery?
