Epilogue -

As I opened my back door with shaking hands, I had two things on my mind. The sunset and a cigarette. As I lit my cancer stick I couldn't help but look back on the gang, Johnny and Dally included. It still hurt thinking about them.

The rest of the boys had moved on but I just couldn't let go. Johnny and Dally deserved one person remembering them for all the good things. Every single one of them, no matter how small. I had went to college and majored in law with a minor in psychology, so I could help out the people who deserve help. I found this pretty Socey girl in University. She had soft ocean blue eyes and a light gold sort of hair color. Real beauty she was, her name was Stacey.

Now I remember this real clear. She told me that she liked guys that we're more sensitive and caring then me. I laughed and she was all confused. She asked why and I told her that if she gave me a shot she'd find out. She did and found out real quick that I was as sensitive as she liked. She apologized and I told her it was alright, how could she have known. I was a greaser. She told me I wasn't, told me I was a person. A person that she could see herself with. Told me that scared her stiff. It's been seven years since then and we've been married for four. Right now she's pregnant with a little boy. We're thinking about naming him John Dallas. We already have one little girl, her name's Julie. She has the same gold hair as Stacey.

Soda had moved on from Sandy and found a real nice greasy girl. Her names Winnie and she's got this dark hair, eyes, and skin that remind me of Johnny. Her personality is just like Soda's though. All big eyed, happy, and drunk on life, but at the same time hidden and afraid of loosing whats dear to them. Soda's still working at that gas station, he's trying to get another job though. Want's to ask Winnie to marry him, going to get her a real nice ring and everything. Soda deserves to be happy.

Now Steve Randell had ditched the gang as soon as Soda had started dating Winnie. There's been some rumors going around that he joined another gang. A real bad one that's made up of the sort of people that Dallas Winston was. Is.

Darry on the other hand had gotten into boxing. He decided that instead of yelling at me he's got to get that anger out of him somehow. He's real good, has a real clear shot at the championships. Got some tattoos to make himself look tougher and he scares off half the competition before they can even try. Some companies tried to sign him so they could profit from his wins but he turned them down faster then then they could say "just consider. Darry has his eyes on this pretty little blonde by the name of Diane, she works at the gym he trains at. She's a real nice girl that one, I hope she'll give Darry a shot.

Two-Bit decided that Tulsa just wasn't for him and moved to Chicago. There he's a standup comedian, gets some bad press because of 'inappropriate behavior'. He gets all the blondes he likes and, yet again, because of that he gets negative articles. Dallas would have been proud of him.

With a quiet thud my door closed and I turned around and smiled when I saw my wife.

"Why are you out here, it's late." she yawns and I stomp out my cigarette, embers dispersing completely so there would be no possible chance of a fire.

"I felt like I had to be." she noded her head and went back inside.

With a sigh I looked up at the setting sun and smiled softly. My brain flickered with images of Johnny and Dally.

"I stayed gold, Johnny. I stayed gold." I whispered, and with that the sun set finishes and the day is done.
