(DON'T PLAY THE SONG YET I'LL TELL YOU WHEN!)

Levi POV:

"No." I said looking up from my mountain of paper work to stare into Hanji's insane eyes. "But Erwin said! Captains orders are absolute!" Hanji said claiming her victory over me. "Alright then you guys can leave me behind." I said looking back down at my paper work scratching away at the paper with the black quill. "But Leviiiiiiii! We need youuuuuu." She begged and I winced at her annoying voice. "No. You don't. The crew is enough to go on a wild goose chase for your mythic creature. Unlike you I have business I need to take care of." I said my patience running thin. "It's not a wild goose chase! Mermaids ARE real! Just think about it! The name and reputation the ship could have if we caught one!" She said placing her hands together in a pleading motion with an excited look on her face. "And just WHAT are you going to do to it if we find one?" I said rolling my eyes. Still unconvinced. "Well I would experiment on it of course! See what benefits they could bring to human kind! Of course I would like to catch a couple, just in case some of them die, ya know!" Her eyes had a glint of insanity in them. I sighed. "How long?" I grumbled not believing my own words. "A month. Two the latest." A look of accomplished crossed her face. "Fine. We set sail tomorrow. Get the crew ready."

I looked over the railing of the ship. The crashing waves against the boat rocked it smoothly like a mother would a cradle. The sea was calming today. It was days like these I was reminded my love of sailing. Hanji was talking over strategies with Erwin about the Mermaid hunt and I simply ignored them. I looked over my shoulder at the rest of the crew darting about doing their own tasks and chores. I looked back to the ocean, drawn in by its dance. Something caught my eye and I blinked a couple times, rubbing my eyes. The salt water must be affecting them. I opened my eyes again to find the mysterious object gone. "Levi something wrong?" Hanji asked. "Uh-... no. Nothing." I said. A few moments passed and I looked back down into the water. I nearly jumped back when my eyes landed on a pair of green and blue ones. I couldn't take my eyes away from them, they drew me in and took my breath away. Pale skin accompanied by brown locks surrounded them. I was to memorized to look away. Then, like a mothers lullaby to a new born babe, a voice filled my ears.

(Play song now!)

You are an Ocean of waves. Weaving a dream, like thoughts become a river stream. Yet may the Tide ever change. Flowing like time, to the path, yours to climb. Thou seek the light with an outstretched hand. A divine blade lays before you. So command the wake of dreams. To restore the world, cut 'way the seams. Join in our prayer-in our song-of birthrights and love. Come the sun, illuminate the sky. Pray that we may quell the dark. Light take the throne. Lost in thoughts all alone.

(Stop the song! Well if you want but they only sing that much)

His hand cupped my face. My body moved on its own, despite my attempts of trying to move away. His eyes grew dark. Slowly he sleeked back down into the water taking me with him. However just before he could a net snagged his turquoise tail. He instantly let me go. I stumbled backwards breathless. He almost got me. He almost killed me. "Ahh! Levi! Get over here and help! Hurry He's gonna get away!" Hanji yelled at me snapping me out of my trance. I stumbled to my feet and ran over to the side once more. The mermaid thrashed about in the net. Making long mournful noises to the other mermaids. They yanked and pulled at the net to help him. He let out another desperate plea, this time the mermaids turned and left reluctantly before Hanji could throw another net at them. "On three! One! Two! Three!" it took 5 people to finally get the damned thing up over the railing. It landed on the deck with an almost wincing thud. It hissed almost like a snake and lashed out at people getting close. "Take him down below! Quick! I don't know how long he can stay out of water!" Hanji barked practically skipping down after them. I looked back out at the sea. In the wind were howls of pain, as if the ocean itself was crying. A sudden guilty feeling came over me. "No. He tried to kill me." I said just below audible. A crew member with Amber hair approached me, Petra. Surprisingly her eyes were red and puffy and held tears. "Why are you crying?" I said a bit more harshly then I intended. "His cries, and the other mermaids cries. I feel like we just kidnapped a child from it's home." She choked back tears. My face remained emotionless. "Their not human." I turned on my heel not sparing the girl a second glance. I repeated the words in my head. Their not human. Their not human. Their. Not. Human.
