Chapter 5

MAY

 That night Ashley and I decided to have a girl's night. We texted the boys to let them know and they seemed to be okay with it. We then ordered pizza and watched a bunch of movies till around two in the morning.

When I woke up, the sun was up and there was snow everywhere. There was an email on my phone saying classes were canceled till ten and another from saying that my European History class was canceled meaning Ashley and I didn't have any classes today. Ashley was already up and dressed holding the dress I picked out for her in front of her.

"Hey." She said turning around. "You're up."

She set the dress down and sat on my bed. "So, Dr. Welton sent out a text this morning that the King got here safely and that he brought a friend. He wants everyone to get a tiara so they can teach us about posture or something. Do you happen to have one I could barrow so I don't have to spend money I don't have?"

I smiled. It amused me, the college predicament of no money. I didn't have that problem because my brother sent me money but part of me wished he didn't so I could experience this life more.

"Sure." I said. "I'll pull it out tomorrow."

"Thank you, May!" she exclaimed giving me a hug. "Now get dressed. We're going to play in the snow with the boys in about an hour."

I hopped out of bed and put on a pair of jeans and a deep purple sweater. After slipping on my boots and grabbing a hat and gloves, Ashley and I walked outside to meet the boys.

When we got to the open field the boys already started a snowball fight. Ashley and I both crept up on the boys and gathered snow before we threw them at the boys. Both boys turned around and starting attacking us back. It wasn't long before all of us were soaking wet from the snow. We were all laughing and having a good time, something I don't experience often. When we got too cold, we went to the rec center to sit by the fire they had going and drink some hot chocolate.

"That was so much fun." Zaine said as we sat down.

"I know." I said in agreement. "I haven't had that much fun sense my brother chased me around our home to get a book back and we got caught by..." I faded out remembering the memory. Our father caught my brother and me and let us continue running around the house. The thought sprung tears to my eyes knowing that nothing like that could ever happen again.

"May, are you okay?" Michael asked.

I tired to smile. "Yeah, just made me think of my father."

Ashley leaned over and gave me a hug. "It's okay honey." She said. "We're here for you. You know that right?"

I looked back and forth between my friends and smiled for real. "Yes. I know. And I am lucky to have all of you in my life."

Once we were done with our hot chocolate we headed back to the boys room. There we watched T.V. until late at night. When Ashley and I got back to the room we were exhausted.

"Today was so much fun." She said flopping on her bed. "And tomorrow we get to meet royalty. I mean for you it's nothing new but for me this is such a big deal."

"I know." I said climbing into my own bed. "I think tomorrow will be full of surprises."

Ashley smiled. "You bet."

We both drifted off to sleep with thoughts of tomorrow on our minds.
