Chapter 1

I padded around in wolf form while I waited for Dakota. I was supposed to be picking up Damien, Daniel and Drew as well but Dakota and I had made plans to ditch them. That sounds bad, I know, but all my younger brothers are annoying.

My name is Destiny Terrence. I was seventeen years old that day and I had short white hair that only fell to my chin. My eyes were an icy blue and they stood out against my overly pale skin. I had SEVEN brothers; Dakota, Damien, Daniel, Drew, Dorian, Delos and Darren - no sisters whatsoever. Thanks mom.

All my brothers looked the same - kind of a Jack Frost look. White hair, pale skin, bright blue eyes and tall. Really tall.

They were all 6'0 ft while I stood at a tiny 5'0 ft. Why lord!?

Though they were all different ages, they had all reached manhood and were fully grown. Damien, Daniel and Drew were triplets - aged sixteen. Dakota was seventeen and was in the last year of school.

I was seventeen as well but I graduated school when I was fifteen to stay at home and take care of the house and the boys.

Darren and Delos were twins like Dakota and I and were twenty-one. They never shut about it when it came to an argument.

Last but not least was Dorian, the eldest. He was twenty-five and was the 'Father Figure' in our house.

Yo Des! My wolf, Leona said.

Wassup Lee? I replied and sat on the ground, flicking my tail around.

There's Rogues on the border. She said matter-of-factly and I shot up, racing inside the school building.

WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME, YOU IDIOT, THE BOYS-

Will be fine! They're on the border remember?

Still!

I must've looked ridiculous running to the cafeteria. For you see, once in every thirty generations, there is a wolf called a runt...which is why I'm so small. Yup. I'm the runt.

That means I'm tiny and weak in both forms - which is why I'm not racing to the border now. I would only be killed, then who would look after the boys?

If you hadn't noticed yet, my parents were gone. Dead. Poof. I don't know. I couldn't remember anything about them and my older siblings were less than happy to talk about them.

As the only woman in the family, I took the role as mother as soon as I turned fourteen. Cooking, cleaning, shopping, all those jobs were passed onto me.

In the school, large wolves were dashing out of doors left and right and I had to concentrate on not being bowled over for a minute, looking wildly around for my younger brothers. I spotted Django barking out orders to people outside and he saw me quickly.

"DESTINY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!?? GET BACK TO THE HOUSE!!" He roared and I flinched, backing away with my tail between my legs.

Destiny, we're fine, go home! Dakota's wolf, Liam's voice rung through my mind and Leona responded with a quick;

I'll get her home.

She forcefully took over and I was pushed back as I watched her actions from the background as she sprinted full speed towards the house, swinging her head side to side desperately as she searched for my brothers at the same time. Soon enough we reached our house - or what it used to be.

Smouldering in front of us was a pile of ashes and burnt wood, flames still roaring within it. Leona and I choked back a sob before freezing as we heard the snap of a twig behind us.

We slowly turned round and there stood at least twenty wolves, all fully grown in a line. Leona raced off and for some reason they let us go, let us dash through the trees and keep running for goddess knows how long.

That was a week ago and I hadn't stopped in my search for my other brothers. I'd only run into Drew, Darren and Dorian. I'd nursed them back to health and they'd in return brought me food that I could cook and protected me.

I'd often cry at the thought of my younger brothers missing, and the loss made Leona weaker than usual which meant whenever we traveled in wolf form, I had to ride on Dorian's back.

Why did I have to be so weak?

None of us could mind-link any of our brothers and soon enough I fell into depression despite my older brothers doing everything they could. Poor Dakota... He was my twin. Two minutes younger.

For what seemed like forever it was the same routine. Sleep, cook, eat, travel repeat. I only really regained proper awareness a few weeks later.

We were traveling for the third time that day and I was nearly asleep in Dorian's rugged fur. It was thick and matted with knots riddling it but it was comfortable...for me at least.

A howl echoed from the right and I whipped my head round towards the sound along with Dorian, Drew and Darren. It sounded painfully like...

"DAKOTA!!!"
