Chapter 10

Lily's pov:

I groan and get up the next day. Zion stands next to me as usual... giggling softly.How could one be so active on a Monday morning?

I sigh and get up to go and brush my teeth with Zion hovering behind me.

" Mommy, you won't guess what happened yesterday!!So Derek and I went to visit his mother.....", he starts .

Lately it's all been Derek this and Derek that. I'm starting to feel a little annoyed at him.I'm pulled out of my reverie as Zion tugs at my shirt.

" You're not listening mommy", he frowns and says and I look down at him with guilt.
"'Sorry honey but it's getting late, you better go and get ready " I said, extremely annoyed and he frowns.
" Okay..." he mutters and leaves.

Why am I feeling like this?

Am I actually jealous of my son making friends with some man.

Till now it's always been me and Zion  and of course Cassidy but now he's always spending time with Derek . He doesn't seem to miss me like he used to.
I sigh, not liking the direction in which my thoughts are going.

Zion is unusually quiet as I drop him in his kindergarden.I give him a kiss on his cheeks and he waves me goodbye and leaves .
I go my to work and it kept me busy till night.

This has become my routine for the next few days. I've tried and made amends with Zion.

Andrew texts me occasionally and I reply as and when I'm free but the timings doesn't seem to work out.

Finally it's Friday night and I'm in an extremely good mood since I get to meet Andrew the next day.
Cassidy sighs and sits next to me.She has this uncharacteristic frown on her face.

" What? " I ask.
" I miss Zion" she says and I frown. I'm sure Cassidy misses him more than I do since

she was the one spending her entire time with him everyday.
I was  about to say something when the doorbell rings.

As Cassidy doesn't seem to be getting up, I run to open the door.

It's Zion with Derek.Both of them are laughing at something  Derek had said or it seemed so. I give a polite smile to Derek and usher Zion in.

He surprises me and Derek by hugging Derek and then running in. Derek cheerfully hugs him back and nods at me .
" Lily . How are you doing ?" He asks .

" Just fine .How is your mother now?" I ask.

" Oh she's a lot better " he says very enthusiastically ,almost like a child and I internally smile.

I wave goodbye to him.
I go in to see Cassidy talking to Zion, more like fighting . That's normal for these two.Suddenly I get an idea.As soon as Zion goes in to freshen up,I turn to Cassidy and say
" I'm going to introduce Zion to Andrew tomorrow "

I've been thinking about it for the past  week.there's no use postponing this anymore.

" Ok but just make sure Andrew doesn't run off with Zion or something.he seems pretty obsessed with Zion",more than he is with you " she says teasingly and I mock glare at her.

Cassidy leaves soon enough and I text Andrew to meet him in my house tomorrow .His reply is an instant yes.

Only after I do all this does the impact of what I have done strikes me.
What if Andrew doesn't like Zion or Zion doesn't like Andrew ?
I console myself and go to bed.

I don't get an ounce of sleep that night . My mind just doesn't seem to shut up.
Finally it's the next day afternoon .

Zion comes and sulks next to me.I pity him though .I've made him clean his room three times and change his dress two times this morning just to make sure everything is right.
The bell rings and I jump and rush to the door.I look back to see Zion staring at me like I'm a whole different species from another planet or something .
I open the door to see Andrew , as soon as he sees me he pulls me to him and gives me a kiss on the lips . I reciprocate quickly making sure Zion doesn't see ,I smile and lead him in.

" Andrew  I'd like you to meet Zion , Zion I'd like you to meet my boyfriend Andrew " I say looking at Zion and trying to gauge his reaction .

I see Zion staring at Andrew with his eyes focused as if trying to get to know him.Then I turn to see Andrew ,

I wish I hadn't .

Andrew's eyes looked so dark and filled with greed . He has a smirk on his face and he looks at Zion with a calculating look .He looks up and down Zion's figure as if assessing something with a confused look on his face. At that minute I don't even recognise him . Just when I'm about to open my mouth , he looks at me and his expression changes swiftly .

" Nice to meet you Zion " he says smoothly extending his hand towards Zion.

Zion gives him a weak smile and tentatively reaches to grab his hand.
" I've heard a lot about you ." Andrew continues.
Zion just stares impassively at Andrew .

" Do you want something to eat ?" ,Andrew asks and Zion nods.

Andrew suddenly hugs me and says a relieved thank you. He has a boyish grin on  his face.

" Shall we go down to the bakery shop a few blocks away " he asks at Zion and he nods excitedly.

So the three of us head towards the bakery shop.
We go down and settle there.

" What would you like to have ?" The waitress asks.

I just order for some water since I'm not really that hungry and Andrew orders quickly for some hazelnut cake.zion takes some time to order though.Zion first asks for some strawberry cake but then changes to cheesecake. I see Andrew frown at Zion as he decides what to order.

After the food is ordered, Andrew casually asks Zion about his kindergarden , his interests and stuff to which Zion answers shyly which surprises me.

As soon as what we have ordered comes,Zion accidentally smears cake in his nose and around his mouth and I start laughing .

Andrew frowns at him ." Eat slowly Zion .Why do you make such a big mess ? People are staring" he says hissing at Zion and Zion suddenly stops eating.

Zion pushes the plate away .

" You shouldn't waste it Zion . I have payed for it " Andrew says and I frown.

Why is he suddenly behaving like a control freak???

After we finish eating silently, Zion heads to clean up.

" So what do you think about Zion ? " I ask and he nods .

" He's okay" that's all he says . For a man who was so excited about meeting Zion , he seems completely uninterested .

" Although I'd like to get to know him better ." .. " alone " he adds and I frown .

" Zion has just met you .I think he might need some time " I say and he frowns . I can see that he wants to say something but decides against it.

" Let's leave" he says  when  Zion comes , we head towards my home.

As soon as we reach there , I see a posh car sitting in the front ,Zion rushes to the gate.
" Derek " he shouts excitedly and runs inside.

I see Derek standing outside the house. He hugs Zion and I smile.
" Hello Derek . How are you ?" I ask." I'm fine lily" Derek answers smiling warmly at me .
" Ahem...care to introduce him lily ? " I hear a voice and turn to see Andrew giving a cold look towards Derek .
