I rolled my eyes as Taylor Swift was played for the hundredth time.
'Can you at least turn it down!?' I screamed at my mother. She of course turned it up and started to sing in a pitch that could only be described as satanic.
Much more of this car trip and I'm gonna go stark raving mad, I began to think to myself. I felt a twinge of sadness as I thought about the home I was leaving behind. Sure it was boring and I had no friends and I was constantly bullied but it was all I knew
'Oh buck up kid,' She yelled over the radio, 'I went to a boarding school when I was your age and it was the best thing my parents could've done for me.'
Yeah I can have bullies all day everyday instead of just six hours. I thought to myself.
'Whatever, how much longer is this trip going to take?' I asked.
'Well we're about halfway so another five hours probably,' She replied with a sigh,'I'm going to miss you baby.''Mum, I told you to stop calling me baby!' I exclaimed, 'I'm sixteen now and I'm taller than you, not to mention that my music taste is about ten times more mature than yours.'
'Tobias sweetie I'm really sorry about this, please don't be angry,' Mum said, 'but you know I have to travel around a lot for work and I'm too busy to home school you. And you know I have to keep busy since your father died, can't let the feelings catch up you know,' she quickly wiped a tear away.'
'I know Mum, I'm sorry, I love you too.' My father was an arsehole who was never around and was killed peace keeping in Iraq. But mum loved him for some reason so I have to be sensitive on the subject.
The rest of the trip was spent listening to a playlist I swear was created by a twelve year old girl. Finally we arrived, after the ten hours of torture I had to sit through, and we passed through St. Pyres boarding school's front gates. The gates were huge, black and looked more like it belonged to some mansion than a school.
