Chapter VII
Tears

Adrien

As I got off the car after a small review of being careful, etcetera with Natalie, I spotted a familiar person sitting on a bench not too far from the campus.

After the car had finally left, I walked over to the bench.

I was almost late already, but I can't just leave her there to be late either.

What was Marinette doing there? And out in the cold too.

I slowly approached her, only to find out that she was sleeping. What was she doing?!

I hurried over next to her, "Marinette, you should get up, it's cold out." I said, trying to grab her arm.

But as I did, she flicked away my hand, surprising me. "No! Just leave me to suffer alone!" she said with her eyes closed. Was she sleep talking?

"Marinette, seriously. You're going to catch a cold." I pushed, attempting once again.

But she slapped my hand away, "Stupid Chat." she whispered angrily.

I paused. Chat? Did she find out about me?

Wait, no way. She's sleep talking. It must be a dream.

I slowly placed the back of my hand on her forehead to check her temperature. It was hot. She really did end up getting a cold.

How long was she out here anyway?! And to not even wear a sweater, gloves or even a scarf! What's up with her?!

I sighed then took off the current scarf I was wearing from around my neck, then wrapped it around hers.

I didn't want to have to do this, but she leaves me with no choice.

I gently carried her up, then slowly switched her to my back. I put her arms around my neck and then held on to her legs.

I leaned forward a bit as just to make sure she wouldn't fall backwards.

At this rate, we both really are going to be late. But it doesn't matter for Marinette right now. I need to bring her to the infirmary.

While I headed to the infirmary, I heard her cough and sniffle. I see it's kicking in now.

"W-What's going on..?" she stammered in a faint whisper, slightly lifting her head up drowsily. "Shh. Go back to sleep, we're almost there."

At that, she put down her head on the nape of my neck, taking me by surprise. I shook it off, as I felt my cheeks burn from that.

When we finally got there, I found out that no one was around. So I decided to put her down on one of the beds to let her properly rest.

I put down my bag against the bed, tucked her in then took a thermometer to properly check her temperature, and placed it into her mouth, soon taking it out after carefully.

38.4 degrees.

I sighed, then went around the infirmary to find a clean towel to use. And when I did find one, I soaked it in cold water, brought the bowl with me, then went back to Marinette.

I placed the towel on her forehead slowly and properly, then fixed the blanket on her.

I watched as she slept peacefully, thinking that any time now, she would wake up and wonder where she was-- but, I can't stay to expect that.
