It was a nice, cool, sunny, fall day in Richmond, Virgina, and I was stocking up firewood for the Winter. It was October 18, 1781. I brought a load of wood into the house, and stacked it up by the fireplace. I went back outside, and saw two strange men in red uniforms out in the clearing.

I did not know who these men were, but I figured that they were just messengers who were going to deliver a message to the priest of the English Church. I went back outside to collect another load, and the men were still walking closer to our house. Maybe they were sending a message from my cousin who was in the King's high court. I did just turn twelve two days, maybe my cousin wants to send me a birthday message. No that can't be right, he has never sent anything to me for my birthday. I decided to bring this to my dad's attention, so I ran inside, and found my dad smoking his pipe next to the fire.

"Dad?" I asked.

"Yes, Stephan? Shouldn't you be outside collecting firewood?"

"Yes sir, but there are some strange men outside who are walking right towards our--" I was interrupted by a knock on our door.

"Go up to your room Stephen, and stay there until I come and get you," my dad said sternly.

"But dad who--"

"Go!" My father looked at me, and I did what I was told I climbed up the stairs, and went into my room and lie in my bed thinking about the strange men in the red uniforms. Could they be the ones at the door?
