If Only You Were Here

***Inspired by my Spring Break trip to the Florida Keys***

The weather is dreary and so am I
I miss your voice and loving embrace
I wish you were here with me, but you are back home
A sigh escapes me as I remember our parting embrace
The drive down to the Keys is alright

But it would be better if I had my heart with me tonight

The Smokey Mountains bring joy to my heart
But not as much joy as being in your arms
How I long to be with you

As the warm air of West Virginia kisses my face,
But it only reminds me of you
The river bends and flows along its destined path

If only it could lend me some of its peace

The trees stand firm
But what is a good wood without you love to share it with?

How I long to be with you.

North Carolina is beautiful
Splashes of color on a green palate
And you are wonderful

Full of life and love

The darkness of night surrounds me

How I wish you were here to guard me from my demons

Morning breaks
The land is covered by a grey sky
And rain patters against the window

My heart yearns to be back in your arms
South Carolina is beautiful,

But I wish you were here to see it too

Georgia is warm, oh so warm
It is so beautiful,

But nothing compared to you
I wish you were here to it all
The scent of blossoms reaches me,
Yet it is your scent I miss

Florida is the Sunshine state,

But my sun is far away

I feel joy at her warm embrace,

But I'd rather be in yours

Warm winds. warm breath

The sunlight kisses me

But I prefer your lips

If only you were here
