(Read the first chapter if you haven't already, or this may start weird xD)
Nikki felt her cheeks warm, and lowered her ears, embarressed. Of all people, she had to crash into Ryan?! She heard Tabitha huff and was soon nudged over by her. She watched as Tabitha gave Ryan an apologetic smile, her tail curled at the end. "Sorry, Ryan. Nikki wasn't looking at where she was going.."
Ryan flicked his ears a bit, his jet black fur rippling with muscle. "It's fine. I'm on my way to the meeting as well, so would you mind if I just walked with you guys?" Nikki could see something unusual in Ryan's eyes too, it seemed the whole pack was nervous about this attack. Tabitha gave Ryan a quick nod. "Sure, we better hurry. I hope they haven't begun yet." With that, Tabitha and Ryan ran down the hill, Nikki scrambling behind them. She knew she must have looked pretty stupid back there, blushing like that. She shook it off, she needed to forget things like that.
Soon after Nikki, Ryan, and Tabitha arrived at the meeting meadow, the actual meeting begun. The pack was gathered around a mound of stones, where a pitch black wolf was sitting. That was Ryan's father, the alpha. He and Ryan looked different from each other in wolf form, other than fur colour, but when they were in their normal, human form, Ryan looked like a younger version of his father, with his mother's nose and chin. Nikki envied him, her parents and her looked nothing close to the same. She had blonde hair, which she had learned to hate, while her parents had a mix of brown and ginger coloured hair.
Tabitha nudged Nikki a minute later, her ears pricked. Nikki snapped out of her daydreaming, and looked at Tabitha. "The meeting is starting." Tabitha whispered, then turned to face the alpha. The wolf stood up, and gazed down at his pack. Like Ryan, he was very muscular, and brave looking. "Members of my pack. As most of you know, we face a growing threat from another pack who is getting a little too comfortable in our territory." Hurried nods and barks were sent as responses to his statement, and every wolf in the meadow was now eagerly listening to the alpha, their ears tuned towards his voice.
"They have already crossed our territory markers several times, and we caught one of their younger members hunting in our territory. We chased them out, but that wasn't a good enough warning, because they came back and did it again. This time with a group of wolves." The alpha sat down, his mate beside him. "We tried to chase the larger group out, and one of our wolves was injured in the fight. I have spoken with the older members of the pack, and they agree with me on the fact that we need to take action to this matter. We don't want any more of our pack injured without reason. We need to fight back, to show they can't mess with us that easy."
Many of the wolves Nikki could see were now on their feet, tails wagging, teeth bared. They were ready to fight. Nikki saw Dallas and Ryan, standing with the wolves, snarling as well. The sight of her friends looking that ferocious scared her. Even the pups were yapping with excitement, and showing their teeth to one another. The alpha padded down the rocks, and stood in front of the pack. "We leave tomorrow at dawn. I expect everyone to be ready. Do not speak of this when you go to school tomorrow." His eyes lingered on Tabitha and Caleb, and then back away. "This meeting is over." He barked, and then led the pack back up the slope towards camp, the wolves coming after him quickly.
