"That was a really good film." Harry says.
My dad left for the movie with Caleb and Lorraine a while ago so Harry is keeping me company. It's not half bad.
"Who says 'film' anymore? It's a movie." I explain, fetching a new bowl of popcorn from the microwave.
"Whatever. I'm classic." He rolls his green eyes.
We watch some Orange Is The New Black, me explaining Piper's story to Harry throughout the episode. He stares at me while I watch it.
"What?" I look at him.
"Nothing. It's cute that...you have a piece of popcorn stuck in your hair." He laughs, picking it out of my messy locks.
"Shut up and pay attention. It's getting interesting." I blush in embarrassment.
He smirks and inches closer to me, staring at the screen and sneaking a few glances here and there. I shift uncomfortably under his looks.
Harry's phone rings loudly, "Uh, sorry, I have to get this. It's really urgent, I'm sorry." he mumbles, stepping outside the house hurriedly.
"Oh, okay."
I realise that this is an opportunity to see if its my dad calling him. I sneak to the backdoor from the kitchen and tiptoe behind the wall, gaining a clear view of Harry.
"Yeah, I'm with her right now. I don't know where it is. Louis, I'm trying." Harry runs his fingers through his hair in frustration; I've noticed that he does that a lot.
"Have you checked his office? I can't go up there, I'm an employee and there are cameras. Louis, check the fucking drawers and call me back immediately." He huffs.
I sneak back into the kitchen and run to the couch, burying my head into the pillow. I hear the click of the door.
"Hey, sorry. I, uh, was just talking to a friend." He scratches the back of his head.
"It's okay. Why do you keep apologising?" I laugh realistically.
"I just want to prove to you that I'm not a dick like you thought I was on the first day of work."
"I did think that before, but I think you're fine now that we've watched Mean Girls together."
We laugh harmoniously and I like that sound echoing in the house.
"Hey, I wanted to ask you, why are you tight with my dad even though you suck at work?" I state bluntly.
He laughs hysterically, "Your dad is a really good mate of mine, he uh...was friends with my father."
"Oh, I see, 'mate'." I mock his British accent.
"That was probably the worst British accent I have ever heard."
The fear of what Harry was talking about on the phone and why Louis was involved consumed me the whole night; I stewed in mystery and curiosity.
I hear a loud bang of the front door.
"We're home!" I hear Caleb's chirpy voice.
"Uh, Haley?" Dad gently shakes my shoulder.
I wake up hazily, realising that I fell asleep on Harry's chest. His arms wrapped around me refusing to let go, I struggle to get up from the sofa. He groans and opens his eyes.
"Mr. Frank." His eyes shoot up to look at him and he quickly release his grip on me, "I...uh, sorry, we must have uh...fallen asleep..."
"That's okay Harry, I trust you wouldn't have done anything with my daughter. Anyway, it's late, you should leave." Dad glances up at the clock that shows the time as 2:32 A.M.
Harry nods swiftly and collects his jacket and car keys, "I'll see you tomorrow, Haley."
I show him to the door and he walks to his car, turning around and winking at me. I roll my eyes and head into the living room to clean the popcorn mess. I notice Harry left his phone on the couch. I almost turn back to hand it to him but think otherwise. This is great. This is really, really great. I shove it into my pocket and clean up the living room.
"How was your night, Haley?" Dad walks into the living room.
I lean against the dark gloss of the grand piano, "Fun. How about yours?"
He sighs and then walks towards me, "It was necessary. Thank you, Haley. Lorraine really needed this. And so did I."
He leans in for a hug and I give him a one-handed hug, my right hand protecting the phone in my pocket and the left wrapping around my father's shirt.
"Your welcome."
