How many times do you think it would take for me to knock myself out if I just keep hitting my head against the table? Because that's all I can think about right now. The crew decided to sit with me again at lunch today and I had no choice but to stay because of Dylan's vice grip on my leg. No wander he became co-captain of the football team. Logan is flirting up a storm with the two girls sitting on either side of him and Dylan is trying to avoid small talk with the blonde girl sitting on his other side. I can tell that he's really aggravated with Logan for even inviting them over to our table but he said that they needed to socialize for the banquet, as if everyone didn't already know who they are.
"So, do you like playing football?" asks the blonde beside Dylan. I roll my eyes at the dumb question."I guess so." He replies, looking down at his phone in his lap, one hand still attached to my leg.
"How many goals have you made?" she asks and I almost burst out in laughter. Goals? What is this basketball?
"Uh, well none, considering its football. They're called touchdowns dumb ass." Stacy chimes in and I decide that I may like her a little.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sports just isn't my thing." The blonde says as her face turns an interesting shade of red.
"Look, its' okay, I know Logan talked you into coming over here with your friends. I already have a date to the banquet." He squeezes my leg at the end.
"Oh, well that's nice. I'm so relieved. I honestly don't even like guys, I just came over so that my friends wouldn't bite my head off in the middle of the cafeteria. I actually have a girlfriend." She says as she looks down and smiles.
At this my heart grows a little fonder for the girl and I finally pipe up.
"What's your name?" I ask
"Tara, but my friends call me T." she says proudly.
"I'm Isabelle, but my friend calls me Iz." I smile at her.
I see Dylan looking between us with a big grin on his face.
"What is this? My little caterpillar becoming a social butterfly?" he says and squishes me against his side.
"Oh, stop it Dyl, we were just exchanging names not numbers." I punch his shoulder.
"Would you like to? Exchange numbers I mean? Maybe we could hang out sometime." She says and pulls out her phone.
"What's your number? I'll just save it and call you later." I tell her my number and finish just as the bell rings.
We all get up to leave and Logan walks over and slings his arm around Dylan. Dylan and I split ways here anyway but I needed to talk to him about not being able to stick around for practice today or giving him a ride home. I'm going to volunteer at the animal shelter today.
"So, did you snag you a hot blonde for the big night?" Logan asks.
"No man, how could you not know that she was seeing someone? She felt so awkward. Besides, I already have a date." He flicks his eyes towards me and I immediately drop my head, preparing myself for whatever rude remark Logan has to say.
"So you finally told her huh? Good for you bro." he slaps his shoulder and smiles really wide.
"What? No. I don't- I don't know what you're talking about." Dylan stammers out.
"Dylan man, we've talked about this. How could you be- oh, I see. Damn, I'm sorry dude, I slipped. " Logan starts walking backwards towards his next class.
"Whatever, see you later Logan." Dylan turns around roughly and faces me.
"Listen, about what he said, its nothing, a joke." Dylan scratches the back of his neck.
I hold my hand up.
"Okay honestly, I don't know what you're talking about. I was looking at my phone waiting for you guys to finish talking. I thought you were talking about T, so let's leave it at that, no questions asked okay?" I could tell that he didn't want to talk about whatever Logan was referring to so I changed the subject really fast. And maybe told a little white lie, I had heard everything.
