Max's POV

So as some of you know, I'm in high school, which is totally great and all-actually, it really isn't, but I guess it's better than being experimented on-sorry, getting back on track, so I'm in school, and my flock is in school, and Ari is in school, and Dylan, and the whole gang, but I think that there's another flock here, another breed of part human, part-well, something not human. There people, they're different, borderline on weird, and yes, I suppose that's a tad bit ironic coming from me, Max, who has a flock of mutants as a family, and is a mutant as well. Technically we are mutants, and so I guess it's alright for me to be calling us that, but it sounds so strange-dang, really have to learn how to stay on topic, not that I am always-gah! Sorry about that, back to the story, well, these people, they seem suspicious, always on guard, and they seem to radiate power and authority, though I suppose that others could say the very same thing about me and my flock. Anyways, they seem to be lead by a large blonde dude, literally large, like huge, like bigger than eraser huge, he has a face that says, don't mess with me you little fuckers, and a lightning shaped scar over his right eye, that eye is usually closed, the next oldest-by the looks of it, is a tan guy with dark, almost like maroon colored hair, he also has a scar over his right eye, and that eye is almost always closed too, his opened eye is a dark black color. Then there's this dude with crazy black hair and multiple body piercings, he had like, red eyes and this shit eating grin that could put even me to shame, which is a first, there's also this really energetic dude with pink-wait, no, more like salmon colored hair and crazy onyx eyes and a toned down version of the other dude's shit eating grin, and he too has a scar on his face, albeit it is on his cheek, but still, what is it with scars on the right side of their faces?? The next two guys are like, connected at the hip or something and are always together, they work well together, and it seems as if they can like, tell what the other is going to do or something. One of the dudes has really light blonde hair, borderline white, and a scar over his right eyebrow, a little to the right of his eye, and damn, what is it with scars near their right eyes, is it a trend or something? The dude he's always with has black hair and red eyes, like the piercing dude, but his hair is a lot shorter, and he has-what a surprise, a scar on his face too, except his is over his nose. Those are the only new guys, but I have a feeling that there's another person with them, maybe someone younger or something, but that person doesn't go to this school, they probably go to the middle school or elementary school if they're that young. It's strange, but I can't see their thoughts, like, I can usually see people's thoughts in weird cloud bubble things, but they're just-jumbled, for a lack of a better word. I mean, I can see their thoughts, except their thoughts are just words that seem to overlap, it's sort of like a bunch of see through papers with dark writing on them being layered, so all you can see are black masses and only a couple individual letters, it's really confusing and it also seems as if it's in a different language. I frown and close my mind off, but it's like there's something sharp, poking at my barriers, I harden my brain even more, not letting any thoughts be seen by what ever's trying to get into my head. I look up in surprise when I see the teacher standing over my desk glaring, "I would appreciate it Maximum Ride-"  I frown,
"It's just Max, Ma'am"  She frowns as well,
"I will call you by your real name, now, as I was saying, I would appreciate it if you listened to my lesson."
"I would appreciate it Ma'am, if you called me Max" And the fuse has been lit, and the bomb is about to blow, and boom.  "Detention!"  and I sigh and look past her, "The answer is simile Ma'am"  she looks at me and I point to the board behind her and repeat, "The answer, it's simile"  She lets out a huff of air and I can tell she's trying not to lose her temper. I smile to myself as she walks away, back turned and I can see her thought, That damn brat, she should be more respectful to me!!  I let out a snort of laughter, and I can hear a slight chuckle behind me, it's the dude with tan skin and a scar over his eye. Wonder what he's chuckling about. Anyways, I drag myself through the lesson, and I can't wait till Gym class, because it's the only really fun class, that, and I want the boys to acknowledge my power, and I want to see what they can do. They all look pretty fit, so they can probably keep up with the jocks, not sure about me and the flock, but whatever. I wait for the bell to ring, and then bolt out of class, Fang and the rest of my flock hot on my heels, the new guys walk lazily, Natsu, I think, the salmon haired dude- did he dye his hair, he must've cause there's no way that's natural, and there I go-back on track, he seems ready for gym, all "I'm fired up!", so does the blonde, with the scar over his eyebrow, I think his name is Sting, who seems just as excited. I quickly change and bounce onto the field, ready to go, and I see the boys all lounging about, so I run up and tackle Dylan, who stumbles a bit, but doesn't fall, "Yo Dylan"  I grin and hold up a peace sign with my fingers, he chuckles and keeps talking, ignoring me on his back. The new boys are being tested and most of the time I can tell that they're carefree, not rally trying, but still doing well, just like my flock, these boys are interesting. Fang seems to notice this too, and pulls me off of Dylan's back, pulling me to the side and coming close to my body, a hand resting on my back as he whispering in my ear, "They're different, not normal humans, you think they're like us?"  I shrug, "They definitely aren't normal, but I don't think that they're mutants like us, I think they are mutants, but a different kind, not from The School, I can't see their thoughts, I can see everyone else's, any other mutants, not theirs though." he nods, then pulls away and we walk back onto the open field where everyone else is.  Anyways, we're in our running unit, which spans from running cross country, to track and field, doing long distance, speed, anything involving running for the unit, right now we're doing the 800, which isn't that much. We all get into starting positions, that is, me, the flock, and the new dudes, and the gun goes bang, and we're off, I'm surprised to see them actually match my speed, and I can tell that they, just like me and the flock, aren't really putting in much effort, just doing it to pass the course. I sigh, deciding not to overexert myself today, all I want to do is finish classes and go home now and figure out who, and what, these new guys were.  "Oh, so the mighty Maximum Ride has taken an interest to one of the new boys, let's see how long it takes that slut to get one of them into bed."  The race was over, and I heard that just as we finished, and the boys were about to pounce on him, but I held out a hand, I could see the new guys had heard the comment as well, but didn't do anything, probably wanting to see how this would play out. I crack my knuckles and walk over to them, a menacing aura falling around me, "Let's see how long it takes me to get on of you six feet into the ground huh? Sounds much more fun"  The boys who said that had been grinning, but those grins slid right off their faces into a scared slack jawed look. I curl my fists and aim a punch, stopping my hand right at the tip of the first dude's face, and I hiss, "Don't ever talk about me like that again, got it?"  They all nodded, and I turned away, only to hear them poking fun at me again, right after I told them not to.  "What a weakling, wimp couldn't even hit us, and if she did, it probably wouldn't hurt."  That's it, I went ape shit, I whirled around and was about to tackle one of them and pummel him actually six feet under, when I heard a roar. Damn, I push myself away from a fight there and turn to see a whole freaking army of Erasers. I sigh and then look around to see people's expressions, everyone is shocked, my flock isn't, just angry and ready to fight and to new kids, they just look the same and Natsu, the salmon haired dude says, "I'm fired up" and Sting, the white/blonde haired dude grins, and a shout echoes through the area, and a scarlet haired woman with a freaking sword comes at them, cutting them down, but their sheer mass is overwhelming, and right as she cuts one down, two appear in her place, until she finally just summons swords-never thought I'd hear myself say that.  She let them fly, and quite a few erasers were killed, "Oi Oi Erza, leave some for us!" That was the salmon haired dude. His fists lit with flames, and I sigh, sadly, this was not the strangest thing that I've seen in my life. The new kids light up in powers, surrounding themselves with elements, poison, fire, light, shadows, iron, and lighting, oh joy. Not to be outdone, my flock and I whip out our wings, the wings snapping through the air and we lift off, I grin, it's good to be in combat again. Ari sighs and transforms, letting out a terrifying growl and unfurling his strange set of wings and launching into the sky right along side us. The erasers are dropping one by one, and I am entranced by these new people and their powers, it's amazing what they can do, and then a group of small objects come flying at us.  At first I think that it's mini erasers, which would be so cruel, to have kids be erasers like Ari, but then I see that it's strange cats with wings that can talk, and one of them is carrying a girl, who also seems to have powers like the new guys at our school, except she controls the wind, "O swift wind that dashes through the heavens-Vernier, O strength of arm to cleave the heavens-Arms!!"  Natsu and Gajeel, as they introduced themselves, grin, and I'm surprised when they, along with Sting and Rogue get picked up by cats, Angel is flying with the other girl and the cats, and she launches into battle. I'm surprised yet again at how ferocious these people are when they are fighting, and when all the erasers are down for the count, I turn to them, still hovering and say, "Hi, I'm Maximum Ride, and this is my flock." They all smile, well some of them do, some of them are just stone cold rocks, no they're more like Boulder cause they're huge and powerful like a boulder and crush anyone in their- not again! As I was saying before, the new woman, Erza, as Natsu called her, reaches out a hand to shake, which I do, and we set down. Erza's body illuminates, and when she appears again, she's wearing something else, I just give her a slightly confused look and she just says, "I'll explain later."  Natsu turns to her and says, "Ne Erza, why are you here?"  Erza turns and looks at him for a moment, probably trying whether or not she should whack him or not, she evidently decides against it and says, "Master sent me here because he didn't trust a certain couple of mages with the mission, and I heard that there's really good strawberry cake here!"  I can see people looking at her, she seems to have sparkles shimmering around her, and her eyes have sparkles in them, which I didn't think was humanly possible, so she must really like her strawberry cake. Erza spent the rest of the day with us, in class, and I got to meet Wendy, who was the little girl who flew into battle with Angel. At the end of the day, I had said goodbye to them, and they waved, "Hey Max, tomorrow, we won't be in school, we won't be coming for the rest of the year, and the memory of us and our magic will be erased from everyone's minds, along with the memories of your wings and powers, they're not going to remember any of it." I nod, "Wait! Will we at least-the Flock that is, remember you?" Erza shrugs at my question, "Probably, goodbye Max, goodbye to all of you, stay safe everyone!" Erza waves as she wishes us the best of luck, then thanks us for fighting along side her. During lunch, we had explained our past and our powers, and Erza and the new-old, I don't know if they're new or old because they won't be coming back- right focus, to the other mages. Anyways, everyone shared their past and a bit of their pasts, and I was sad, they all had sad parts of their past, like us. Overall, I was glad to meet them, it was a great experience and I can't wait to meet them again. I gotta go now, the flock's going for a fly, don't want to miss a chance to stretch my wings.
