Lucy was having a fight with her father about why she cause so much trouble. They have this fight a lot of times and she has had enough so after the fight with her father she goes to her room, packs a bag, and plans to runway when he falls asleep.

In the forest is an abandon castle that is deep in the forest. The castle has a thick layer of dust on the walls and ripped fabric. Laxus was once a human but he is the beast that everyone is terrified of. Laxus has been consumed by darkness because of the years of aloneness and has to learn to love someone or he will remained a beast. He can't just fall in love with anyone, they must be someone who has the ability to see the good in everyone, they will see past his flaws, and see him for himself.

Lucy's father has finally gone to bed so she puts her plan into action. She opens her window and climbs out and runs away from her house and small village into the forest. Now she has heard of the beast in the castle that is deep in the forest. Lucy know that there is another small village but to get to it she has to go through the forest if she doesn't want to be caught be anyone from her village.

Laxus was in his dark and tattered room. He was pacing the floor thinking of ways to get rid of the curse without falling in love. Because he didn't have an example of what loving is so he is afraid to fall in love. However he knows there isn't a way around the curse, and the only way to return to his human self is to fall in love. The problem is not only that he is afraid but that he will never find someone to look past the beast he is right now. Will there ever be someone to look beyond what they see and love me.

Lucy enters the forest cautiously because of the danger that lays is there. There is not only the beast but wolfs and coyotes. Lucy starts her walk into the forest she hears a howl but she can't tell which way it is coming from or if it is from a wolf or coyote. Lucy starts to panic and trying to calm down but she hears another howl in the distance. Then she hears thumbing on the forest floor and she starts to run. She no longer hears the thumbing but she keeps running and the diction she is running in is to the beast's castle.

Laxus is looking out his broken glass window and see someone running towards his castle. Laxus goes out of his room and into the shadows along the walls. He starts to walk but he is careful to stay hidden in the shadows because he is going to scare the person if they decided to come in the castle. Then the doors open and just as Laxus is about to scare her, but he stops because he is stunned by her beauty. Laxus falls in love with Lucy and she eventually falls in love with him.
