The world reappeared in a flash as I felt my body being dragged away from the dim light of my lantern, back to what I ran from. My only chance that I had or could take, became a debacle? Now futile? I craned my neck around to see my grandfather, looking at me, with dead black eyes. I swung my leg around to loosen his grip and kicked with all my might. He let out a wail of pain and crumpled down to the ground. Stumbling to get up, I ran through the forest in the way I thought I came from before. Back to the safety of the town that my grandparents lived in. I figured with my grandfather being out of the house, it would be safe around there. The trees thinned out to make a path to my final destination. In the darkness without my lantern, challenging me, for it was incredibly hard to navigate through the brush, therefore, my young scabs on my face bled again, putting the pitiful taste in my mouth. My throat tightened through the crisp air, limiting my air flow. The shadow of my grandparent's house appeared rather quickly, I must have been quick. The gate was wide open this time, like a luring trap. I had to enter to save my grandma, as I had promised, I couldn't let her down. An unforeseen volt of electricity surged through me, and I plummeted to the ground in complete darkness, blacking out completely.
My grandfather shook me awake and let out a sigh of relief, "Where have you been?" he asked, "You were supposed to be home with me... spending some bonding time, together. Your grandma had unfortunately passed away from a stroke." he bowed his head down in respect for a moment, and continued on, "We can play some fun games in the... spare bedroom, shall we?" He started slowly grinning, mysteriously. I felt comforted by his voice and asked, "Where's Mom and Dad?"
"Oh, about that, you will see what happened in the spare bedroom...do you remember anything that has happened in the last 5 years?"
"What? Last five years? What happened?" I started feeling brain-washed and forgetful.
"Ah, follow me." My grandfather grabbed me with his cold rough hands and wheeled my bed to the spare bedroom. His house suddenly felt like a hospital, something felt...wrong. He opened the door and showed me, my dead parents, my dead grandma, all slouching against a wall, with red markings on them, saying, "RUN, YOU WILL DIE, DON'T TRUST HIM..." I turned toward my grandfather as I processed what had just happened. He smiled and said, "Want to play a game?
