Zayn's P.O.V
"Happy 15th birthday, ugly." I spoke with a light hearted tone, poking my tongue out as I smirked.
"Thanks." Tasha smiled and laughed but the sarcasm in both features was obvious as she sat on the other side of the cafeteria lunch table from me.
"Zayn.." Tasha's voice slowly warned, as if she was about to tell me off when her sudden, uncertain stare watched me slide a small, white, gift bag towards her side of the table.
"I know, I know you said no presents but like I was going to listen to you." I sarcastically tutted and rolled my eyes before grinning, knowing she couldn't reject my gift now since I'd surprised her with it.
"You're so sneaky." She squinted her eyes and waggled her index finger at me as the smirk on her face grew.
"Open it then!" I rushed, lightly tapping the table as I felt a mixture of anxiousness, impatience and excitement bubble inside of me.
"Okay, okay." She calmingly laughed at me, before looking down to the small bag and carefully opening it.
She peered down into the slight gap of the now split open bag, then widening the space with her smallish hands.
"This is a Pandora box and even a charm from there is quite expensive." Tasha mumbled, her eyes widening as she dipped one of her hands down into the small gift bag to gently bring back up a small, creamy box.
"Yeah, so?" I shrugged, not seeing the big deal about everything and anyway, Tash (her nickname) and I are best friends so of course I wanted to get her something nice, even if it is on the pricey side. "Stop being a spoiled sport and just enjoy the fact that I actually got you a present, alright?" I huffed, a slight laugh hidden behind it.
"I know, I'm sorry. You know what I'm like but I'm grateful, thank you." She explained herself, blushing as she looked at me and placed her hands on the cream, soft box.
"Well, you haven't opened it yet so you might not even like it." I anxiously shrugged, just wanting her to open the bloody thing.
I closely watched Tasha as she carefully popped open the padded box, revealing a small, silver charm of a slightly detailed, feather figure.
She gasped slightly as her face lit up and her eyes beamed.
"Do you like it?" I nervously interrupted her silent grinning state as my eyes darted from her face and to the box, that held the charm.
"I love it." She breathed before placing the box carefully back down onto the table, standing up on the spot and then reaching her arms over the lunch table, brining me into a restricted, awkward, standing hug.
"So, do you know why I got you a feather charm?" I quizzed Tasha, seeing if she would know as I watched her admire the new, shining charm that added to her collection of other various, silver figures, hanging around her wrist on a thin, light blue, leather charm bracelet.
She pulled a slightly confused face.
"Do you remember the first day we met?" I smirked.
"Yeah, we got sat next to each other in Math?" She confirmed but still confused as to why the charm of a feather.
"Yeah and you asked me my name.." I paused, waggling my eyebrows, hoping that I was starting to jog her memory. It was still all going over her head. "I told you and then you said that my hair reminded you of a Raven and by the end of that class you still never called me by my actual name, so for a while you still always called me 'Raven'. I got you that charm so you'd never forget me and so that you'd know that I'll always be here and around, no matter where our lives take us." I mumbled the last sentence, embarrassed because I never say such soppy things.
"Raven." Tasha mumbled distantly to herself as she lazily smiled to her bracelet again. Her mind seemed far away as if it was all coming back to her.
"Babe." A deep voice called from behind Tash.
My eyes focused over Tasha's shoulder as I caught sight of him. Ryan. Shortly after, my vision darted back to Tasha. I watched as her bright, child like face weakened as she swivelled round on her lunch stool, to face Ryan.
"Hey." She smiled at him as he approached our table, her smile different to earlier though.
"I've got the best birthday present waiting for you back at my house." He devilishly smirked, before softly bringing his bottom lip in between his teeth as he winked, pulling Tasha up by her hands.
I watched Tasha uncomfortably dart her eyes from him and then to the floor, before weakly smiling up at his arrogant one.
My nostrils flared slightly as my eyebrows furrowed, I didn't like Ryan. I never have and probably never will. I don't know what she sees in him.
"I'll see you later Zayn, thanks again." She mumbled as Ryan continued to ignore my presence, tugging her away by her waist.
"Bye." I huffed before bringing my drink up to my lips, not taking my hard eyes off of the mixed, brunette hair they both had as they continued to walk down the hall. The bastard was stuck to her like he had invented a new super glue.
Ever since Ryan came into Tasha's life, as her 'boyfriend', I've seen less and less of her. That's on his terms as well, his doing.
It's hard to even class her as a best friend anymore, when now I only really see her in the corridor from time to time..
My now glum face slowly peered up to the cafeteria's main clock, the school bell seeming to ring deep into my ears, echoing, drumming down into my chest.
Most people find that the school hours go by too slowly and they want them to speed up. Where as me, I find that the school hours go by in a flash and I'm here at the end of the school day holding onto every last minute I can milk on, to stay in this hormonal building.
Let's just say that some people are happy to spend more time at home than others are..
