*last time *

Out of nowhere a booming shout was heard. "No"! I turned around to see Sting looking at me with a forlorn expression on his stern face. "I won't let you"... He whispered. "That's not your choice"! I spit out harshly, immediately regretting it when I saw the hurt flashing across his face. "Let's start the procedure"! I said my voice shaking trying to hold back the tears, trying to remember that I would finally have a family...

Asrai pov;

I felt like I was floating, images zipped through my head at the speed of light. My mind relapsed and one certain scene surfaced in my very confused brain.

*flashback*

"Brother can't we go see the festival"? The girl with the blonde pigtails wined while she grasped onto her brothers over larged shirt. "For the last time no, I'm busy". Said the blonde teenager, rolling his eyes he put on his headphones as music began to boom. Asrai sighed as she imagined the festival that took place in the small town of Magnolia every year, it was a festival of magic. Tons of mage's from all around the country came to show their craft. Unlike all of the other children, she had never been! Sighing, she sat down on the guild floor and began to lament about the elaborate festival.

Suddenly, the guild hall doors opened with a bang and a red headed boy with his cat strode in. "Asrai"! The boy screeched at the top of his lungs as he ran up to her and picked up the unsuspecting girl. She giggled and was soon let down to which she wobbled and teetered a bit. Natsu steadied her while the happy kitten meowed contently. "What are you doing"? The short boy asked, his curiosity getting the best of him. "Nothing much". She exclaimed giving him a sad look, but, quickly a façade replaced it with a cheery, cheshire grin. "What about you"? She asked watching the expressions change on the funny boy's face, he furrowed his brow's and then exclaimed. "Oh me and Lisanna were playing with Happy, he is our child you know"! He proclaimed patting the kitten, to which he meowed loudly at.

"Nat-u"! Pronounced the gurgling kitten. Asrai laughed at this strange sight and grabbed the cat pulling him into a tight knit hug. "Mama"! Happy said snuggling deeper into the folds of the girl's worn sweater. "What, no, Lisanna's your mama"! Asrai proclaimed turning beet red and trying to shake off the snuggling kitten that had now fallen asleep. "Maaaammmmmmaaaa". He gurgled in his sleep. Natsu watched the kitten, his interest peaking, why did Happy think she was his mama? His mind only led to one conclusion, Happy had two mother's. Instead of questioning this weird situation, Natsu merely shrugged and smiled. "Hey Asrai, wanna go to the festival"? He asked her, a look of embarrassment crossed his face. "Yeah"! Yelled the giddy girl running to the door. "Let's go"! She exclaimed imaging all of the spectacles at this miraculous event. Little did Natsu know, he had just made a little girl's dream come true, it was something she would remember forever.

*flashback*

"Hibiki give it back"! Asrai yelled, fuming. Her hair cascaded down her back creating silky waves, her eyes were furious. "What, this"? Asked Hibiki innocently tossing the figurine back and forth in his hands. "Seriously Hibiki"! The girl started to say when she heard a huge crash emitted from the cobble stoned path. The figurine that her grandmother had given to her lay shattered on the cold, hard ground. The ten year old girl felt tears well up in her eyes, after all her grandmother had died three years back.

Sobbing, the girl began to walk fast paced away from the panicking boy who was staying the summer in the sprawling city of Magnolia. "ASRAI, ASRAI"! The boy yelled running, trying to catch up with the sobbing girl. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean too"! "That's what you say every time! But, other times it didn't matter as much, this was special, it was from Nana". She cooed pronouncing her grandmother's nickname for the first time in a while. Hibiki felt horrible, sure before he had made some stupid mistakes, but not like this! 

"Come on". The boy mumbled taking the girl's hand in his and running. With tears rolling down the girl's red cheeks the two arrived at the small store. Walking inside the boy walked up to the counter and held out the broken fragments of the once beautiful figurine. The gray haired man studied the boy curiously and shook his head as if apologizing. "I'm sorry young sir, but I can't fix this"! The man explained shaking his head and looking apologetically at the little blond boy. "But, I have to get it fixed"! The little boy began to cry rubbing his cerulean eyes. Feeling a hand on his shoulder he turned around to see the Asrai, eyes gleaming and a grin placidly placed on her face. "You care"! She exclaimed fastening her arms around his neck. The boy blinked, surprised at the girl's actions. "What"? He managed to stutter out. "Well, for one presents don't last forever, and two I forgot Nana bought me a whole set"! She giggled contently while the boy sweatdropped. Soon the two happy children ran into the summers night with fireflies lighting up the sky, unaware that there was anyone else in the world.

*flashback*

The two children sat outside while soft tufts of snow flowed from the darkened sky, the village looked like a fairy tale.(A.N See what I did there? ;)) The houses were merrily decorated with gigantic wreaths and smoke poured from the tiny chimneys. Different colored lights shone like millions of stars, soft snow cloaked the tops of houses and roads making it seem like a winter wonderland. The trees glistened with snow and ice and the two children sat still, enthralled by this magnificent sight. "Wow"! Breathed the girl, her breath coming out in frosty puffs. "It's amazing"! She exclaimed looking around with wide eyes at the cozy village. The boy watched her, a serene smile graced his face as he watched her dance around the square trying to catch a wandering snowflake on her tongue.

Muttering something he formed a swan with a piece of ice, criticizing his work the boy shook his head and began to continue his masterpiece. He made a lake frozen over with two figures on it ice skating, both had happy expressions on their faces and in the middle their was a glittering Christmas tree that practically glowed. Deciding to enhance his work, he made this scene a snow globe complete with tiny snowman and animals dancing around the two.

  Approaching the girl with many lights illuminating his face he shyly held out his master piece. "Oh Gray, it's beautiful". Said the girl her voice filled with awe and wonderment, this was her favorite season after all. Gray's cheeks began to fill with pink as he said. "Oh it was nothing". Holding out her hand she handed him a pair of pants. He blinked and looked strangely at her, her face became red as she exclaimed. "It's because you always manage to lose your pants"! The boy laughed, and both tightly grasping their presents making their way back to the annual Fairy Tail Christmas party.
