Sasuke woke to the sound of Naruto struggling to breath. The Raven haired boy sat straight up in bed and turned to see Naruto grasping his chest, clawing at it like one would try to break through to the surface of water.
His eyes are wide and breaths are ragged as his body shakes slightly, everything tense. He would try gasping for air, his chest rising and back arching and staying that way for a moment before he would curl up in on himself and repeat this process. This was him trying to calm his breathing but not getting a chance to catch himself long enough.
Sasuke quickly pulls Naruto into his grasps and whispers softly into his ear as he taps a steady rhythm of four by nine on his back.
"Your ok Naruto. Your alright. Just breath. Remember in One, two, three, four. Out two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. I'm here, I'm right here just breath with me." Sasuke repeated the counting and watched as the blonde struggled to match his breathing with Sasuke's. His body shaking in the ravens arms as he slowly calmed himself, eyes still wide in fear from the sudden suffocation.
"Your alright. Remember just breath with me. One, two, three, four. Out two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Your ok. Your alright." Sasuke whispered into Naruto's ear as his boyfriend and best friend wrapped his shakey fingers in his shirt and slowly came to match Sasuke's breathing and counting.
Sasuke had gotten pretty good at this after the war. Naruto would get them from time to time out of the blue or if something triggered it. At first it scared Sasuke but luckily Kakashi-sensei was there to Handel it the first time it happened in his presence.
Later their old mentor had explained that it had happened before the war was about to start. how everything was just colliding in and all around him at once. He had collapsed from hyperventilating the first time and the third time it had happened. Sasuke was away the third time, getting food for the week while Naruto was set to the task of cleaning the kitchen.
When Sasuke came home he was greated with silence and the sight of Naruto passed out on the floor. Sasuke kind of panicked and rushed him to the hospital. Later Sakura explained what happened and suggest that Naruto shouldn't be left alone as much anymore till they can find a better way to handle the situation.
Since then Sasuke has kept a close eye on him and hasn't left his side, making sure he's ok before anything else. Naturally, Naruto had gotten irritated by this.
"I'm not some little kid ya know! You don't have to watch me twenty four seven! I'm an adult I can take care of myself ya know!"
"Naruto that's not the point. I'm not doing this because I think you can't Handel yourself. I'm doing it because you need to be watched."
Naruto slams his fist into a wall, leaving a small dent. His hand shaking. "I don't need this! I feel like you are treating me like... Like... Li.." Naruto started to breath heavy and everything felt off and he suddenly had the feeling like he couldn't breath.
Sasuke rushes to his side and pulls him towards him and they slowly slide to the floor as Naruto continues to struggle for air, panic welling up inside him.
"Naruto you need to calm down. Take deep breaths. Take in four and count out nine. Then name something's..."
"I... I can't... I can't breath! Sa-sasuke... I... I can't... Breath!" Naruto forced out as he gripped his chest.
"In four out nine... Follow my breathing... Count the tailed beast if it helps... Or how many bowls of ramen you can eat."
Naruto followed Sasuke's instructions. Breathing in four and slowly counting out the names of his tailed beast friends. Slowly Naruto came to relax, still shaken and scared from the experience. Sasuke didn't say a word. Just sat there with him and held his boyfriend to his chest till he was completely calm.
Naruto was drained from the experience, it taking a toll on his mental and emotional state. His eyes drooped and his body slowly relaxed into Sasuke's as he slowly drifted. Sasuke sighed softly as he ran his hand through Naruto's hair and messed with it a little bit here and there.
"This is why I look after you. I'm scared I'm gonna come home and you won't be here anymore. It took me so long to find myself again, to come home to the village, to you. I don't want to lose something that I see worth living for so suddenly. I don't want to lose my light."
"Sasuke..."
"So just deal with me being all up in your space. I just want to make sure the wind doesn't snuff you out..."
Naruto shifts and curls up in Sasuke's lap, having Fallen back asleep from the exhaustion of the sudden attack. Sasuke sighs softly and runs his fingers through the blue eyed boys hair once again and holds him close as he lays back and stares up at the ceiling.
Naruto and I have separate missions tomorrow... I hope he can make it through it alright and come home without problems... Maybe I should talk to lady 5th... Than again... I should give Naruto the space to grow out of it...
Sasuke groans softly as he looks out the window for a moment before looking away and culrning up with Naruto, the moon shining through the glass as clouds pass by in the sky. Covering up the stars tonight.
A mysterious yet beautiful sight.
