you

you pulled me close
so that we were skin touching skin
and held me like i was vintage.

your head upon my head
so that i knew we were clear from the war
and our eyes shut like we were dreaming.

you lifted up my chin
so that i could see the gems in your eyes
and our fingers held so tight as if you threw away the keys.

and know
i know that
when we're bones
you'll still look at me
the same way you did
when we were flesh.
