Chapter 16
When I got home I decided to go for a little refreshing walk on the beach with a little makeup and a slightly kinda revealing summer dress, just for, you know, walking.
Okay, I'll admit it; I was trying to secure a date for the Halloween Ball. It's not my fault; Nikki just brings out the worst in people. But I wasn't really dressed too much like a slut, if you think about it this was the beach so I should have been wearing a bikini (which I did have on underneath) so really I'm way overdressed. Not to mention that since Aidan would be surfing I think he'd be wearing a lot less than me.
So I walked on the soft white sand barefoot with sandals in one hand and an open tote bag on my other shoulder. The bag had a couple of essentials in it and a carefully placed flyer about the Halloween Ball. I was pretending to be aimlessly wandering down the coast whilst constantly checking in my peripheral vision if any surfer dudes were about.
This way if I did bump into him I could literally 'bump' into him and fall to the floor with the flyer conveniently flying out. Aiden, being a gentleman (I hope), would then pick the flyer up for me and help me up. We would then be very close because he had just helped me up and he would feel the sexual tension between us, fall in love with me and ask me out to the ball! I was a date scheming mastermind.
And so I waited for Aiden to come.
I saw a glimpse of messy brownish almost black hair and turned abruptly only to find an old man trying to keep up with his grandson in the midst of happy holidaymakers.
And so I waited. And then I waited some more.
And then I accepted that he wasn't coming, but waited a little longer regardless of that. And then I felt something wet fall on my face. Crap, it was raining. That next to never happened round here so I quickly starting walking home but then thought better of it.
I was going to be hungry at home so I started mindlessly walking towards Pizza Hut.
I was almost there when this shiny red flash was before me and I fell backwards. Ouch ouch ouch ouch.
"Ow," I mumbled from the hard concrete. Very hard bruise-giving concrete. A surf board covered my vision of the sky.
"Laurel!" came a distinctly male voice.
"Aiden," I mumbled.
He helped me up and picked up the flyer and my umbrella which had slipped out of my hand.
"What happened?" he asked with real worry on his cute face.
"I think I got ran over by this huge red car," that sure was better than bumping into him and the flyer falling out.
"You mean that one?" he asked dubiously to the car in front of us that was parked.
Oh crap, I was the stupidest clumsiest girl ever. I was right down there with blondes (no offence to blondes, just stupid ones like Adam Taylor and Nikki Richards). I had just got run over by a parked car.
