"Charlie lets go, you are taking forever. You know I hate shopping." I look over the rack of clothes at my best friend who's swinging her bags around groaning and mumbling stuff under her breath.
"You're going to hit someone." She shrugs spinning around knocking her bags against something hard. Look who was right.
"JORDAN!" I growl putting my hands on my hips. "Look what you did." She looks up dumb founded at a tall boy with curly brown hair wearing a black sweater over a green shirt.
"I am so sorry." She covers her month with her hands. "Really I am sorry! I didn't mean to I-" The boy chuckles making me roll my eyes, typical Jordan.
"It's ok!" He raises his hands. "It wasn't your fault you can stop apologizing." He smiles holding out his hand introducing himself. Good someone to distract her while I continue shopping. This was one of my favourite stores. I go thru rows and rows of clothes but only deciding on a red Dalek dress for about 12 pounds and a tardis mug. Momma's happy right now. All I can think about is going home, changing into fat clothes, drinking tea out of my new mug and watching a movie whilst I sit in my huge puffy lazy boy.
"There you are! I've been looking for you." Jordan rolls her eyes meeting me outside of the changing room.
"I wasn't very hard to find was I?" I point behind me to the rooms. "Who was that guy?" I ask walking towards the check out.
"Oh I don't know. He was nice though. Really pretty eyes." She shrugs, but I can see the smile playing on her lips. I pay for my stuff and walk out of the store. I look around the busy mall, now just begging to get home. I pull out my phone to see it was about 4pm.
"Wanna go now?" I ask walking past the food court.
"Well, I wanted to go to Larry's to get a tea." I agree because I go need to go get a new book. I just re-read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I read it when it first came out but I just wanted to cry over it again. It was a beautiful book and I recommended it to everyone I talk to about books. We walk out of the mall and onto the ever more busy London streets. This is nothing like our cute little town in Canada that I and my three best friends (Jordan, Katie, and Valerie) grew up in.
"Wait, why don't we go to Katie's café? She's our friend and we work there?" Jordan fake laughs before looking thru her bags.
"Because I like Larry's. They always have the best tea and I love their marshmallow squares and the owners love us!" She pulls out her wallet and her phone smiling like a child.
After a fifteen minute walk we make it to Larry's. It's a simple café, white walls with dark brown trim, tables, and counters. The owners love us because we always seem to be here. This is where Valerie met her boyfriend Dan. He's a sweet guy, works for some business that sells something he doesn't care about. I like him. Jordan and I take our normal spot on the left side of the counter that's in the middle of the room. I look beside me at the bookshelf after putting my bags down on the floor.
"Jordan! Oh my god it's Harry Potter! I haven't read this in ages!" I almost knock the chair over, squealing more then I should have over a book.
"yeah yeah a book."
"Not just a book, the book series that I loved when I was a child, teenager thing! TAKE THIS SEROUSLY WOMEN!"
"That cute guy behind the counter is smiling at you being stupid." She says nodding her head over in his direction. I slowly start to over to him, not wanting to be obvious. He's looking down at the coffee maker smiling a toothy grin, his brunette fridge falling into his olive green eyes.
"He looks sweaty." I whisper over to her which causes her to laugh. The boy looks over to us again.
"Let's go get a drink." She grabs my wrist pulling me off my seat.
"Hey, what can I get for you two?" He smiles over the dark brown counter. The black apron's tied tight around his tall skinny body.
"Steep tea, two sugars, two milk, and a marshmallow square. What about you Charlie?" She emphasises my name making sure the boy hears it.
"Me too but with two cream." I feel a slight blush rise on my pale cheeks. This is normal because I always turn red. He smiles again before going to make our drinks. Jordan nudges my shoulder before walking back over to the table winking, leaving me to stand there by myself waiting for our drinks and the squares.
"Charlie is it?" He asks not looking up. "Isn't that a boy's name?" I roll my eyes.
"Yes it is. Her name," I point over to Jordan. "Is Jordan which is also a boy's name."
"I like it." He looks up handing me our drinks. "Hello Charlie, my names Chris." He reaches across the counter holding out his hand. I shake it smiling. I say thanks and grab the drinks and the mallow squares.
"You're an asshole." I mutter sitting down handing her the drink. She winks from behind her cup. I grab Harry Potter from the bookshelf and turn to the first page. Chapter One, the Riddle House. Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire was always my favourite out of the series.
"He keeps looking over at you." She say from behind her magazine. I look up from the book.
"No he doesn't." I mumble looking over to see him talking to a teenage girl who is ordering something.
"See." I nod my head to Chris. She rolls her eyes. For some reason I'm hoping she is right. I'm lonely. Looking at Val and Dan makes me sad. I'm not needy, but I would like someone. I am 25 and I kind of want my life to start. I'm starting my job next year as a History teacher and I don't know. I want to settle down and I want to settle down with someone. I take one last glance over to Chris before grabbing my bags, my book, and my drink.
"Come on. Let's go."
