"It was around 1987 when all of these murders started to happen in our lovely city.", stated my teacher.
I was bored as hell and hated criminology. Everyone knew about all of the rape murders in LA, and I mean everyone. I really wanted to tell her to shut the fuck up but I was known as one of the outsiders and I knew that my punishment would be much worse than anyone else's. I had my three other friends sitting around me including my boyfriend,Felix. All of them except for Felix think I'm dumb, but they're wrong. They don't know my parents are cops and I would like to keep it that way. The last thing I need is for some stupid ass bitches bombarding me to tell them everything. As I walk home, I would tremble because of everything I have heard. I always felt like someone was following me. When I got to my house, I ran to my door and locked it when I was inside. My parents are never home so it was ten times more terrifying to come home. I walked up to my room so that I could Skype with Felix.
"What's up Nikita?", he asked.
"Nothing I just feel so unsafe in my own house.", I replied.
"You'll be fine babe, just calm down and enjoy yourself.", he said reassuring me that I was alright.
"Your probably right, I just need to calm down", I said.
I walked down the stairs with my computer in my hands so that I could talk to Felix and make food at the same time. I was usually really hungry after school because my parents are too stingy to give me lunch money. I then heard a loud crash in the basement.
"I'll be right back love, I heard something break down stairs.", I said.
"Ok be careful though.", he said.
"I'll be fine, I just hope that no one is in the house because and shotgun to the face is not going to feel good.", I said trying to brighten up his and my spirits.
As I walk down the stairs, I could feel my heart beat slow down. I open the basement door to find that it was just my cat Whiskey playing with some empty wine bottles. I grab Whiskey and walk up the stairs.
"It was only Whiskey playing with some old wine bottles.", I stated.
"Thank God!"
"I know right", I said.
I then heard my parents drive up into the drive way.
"I have to go love you", I said.
"Love you too."
I shut my computer and ran up to my room. When I heard the front door open, I walked down the stairs like nothing ever happened.
"Hey Nikita how was school", my mom asked me.
"It was ok, did you hear anything new on the murders?",I asked.
"Yes actually, that is why we are home early.", my father told me,"Another young woman was found dead on the outskirts of the city."
"And they suspect that the murder is making his way towards our town and he knows who you are.", my mom said to me while handing me a note.
It said, " Nikita, I see you every day, I know what your personality is like, I know where you live. I will find you and you will be mine because you are special." I had dropped the note and fell to my knees.
"Mom, Dad, I don't ant to die. Please don't let me die, I have so much to look forward to.", I said while starting to cry.
"You are not going to die, I won't let it happen ok Nikki.", my dad said while wiping all of my tears away.
I nodded and walked up to my room to go to sleep. Before I turned out the lights, I walked out onto my balcony to make sure that there wasn't any creeps watching me. After that, I locked the doors and went to bed. The next day, my parents drove me to school. I was so relieved that I didn't have to walk four miles just to go to a hell hole that I could possibly get killed in. As I walked into my criminology class, I could see that Felix, Jeremy, and Jack were all concerned about me.
"Did you sleep ok Nikki?", Felix asked.
"I'm a little tired, but I'll be ok", I said.
"Alright students take your seats please.", Mrs. Jackson said while writing on the board," we have a new student in our class so pay close attention to what he says because he could be your partner for our next group project."
"My name is Jeremiah Tallinn. I am a senior and I love to learn about these new crime scenes in our city.", he said.
I thought to myself, "Why is a senior in a sophomore class?" I was then brought out of my thoughts by the bell.
"Come on babe, or else we will be the last in line for lunch.", Jeremy yelled.
I quickly gathered all of my stuff and walked out of the classroom with Felix who was waiting by the door for me. I wasn't very talkative during lunch because I was too busy thinking about the note my mother gave me last night.
"Nikita are you ok?", Jack asked.
"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just thinking about things.", I replied.
Then all of a sudden Jeremy goes off on a whole different subject.
"Did you guys hear about the girl they found on the outskirts of town last night?", Jeremy asked.
"No what happened?", Felix asked.
"They found a note on the body", Jeremy stated.
"What did the note say?", I asked.
"I don't know", he replied.
He may not have known but I sure as hell did and it was a scary thing to think of. The bell for lunch had rung and Felix walked me to my next class.
"I know you know what was on the note that Jeremy was talking about and I want you to know that I'm here if you need to talk.", he said while walking away. After school my mom showed up to pick me up from school. When I got into the car, she saw that I was not in the mood for conversation so she put on my favorite song. When I got home, I got out of the car and went into the house while my mom went back to work. I knew they were going to be late coming home so I went to my room and tried to take a short nap so that I wouldn't worry so much.
