Hey guys, it Rose here.
So before I get stuck into the story I just want talk about this book and my other book Ice queen. So for those of you that read Ice queen, I want to apologise for not updating it. I started writing that book with no clear vision of where I wanted it to go, so I've run out motivation to finish it, however I've decide to reconstruct and fix it so that I can continue. In the mean time I came up with an idea for a new story, one which I have a pretty good idea of where I want it to go to so, at least I know what I am writing towards. Anyways I promise that I will update us much as possible, and make sure not to leave you hanging.
Thank you for everyone who gives up their time to read books by inspired young writers, it means the world to us. Especially when you comment and vote.
See you soon and enjoy "Soul searching"
"We need to talk"
As soon as I hear those four words I know something not so good is about to happen. Hearing those words twice in one day is positively devastating and it ends with crying myself to sleep. Let me start from the beginning.
It was actually a glorious morning, the sun rays shone through the gap in my silk curtains, the birds chirped outside, and I, well, I was snuggled up under the softest fluffiest most colourful blanket you could ever find, completely content with life, it was a Saturday after all. The smell of mum's famous pancakes dragged me out of bed. I changed into a yellow sundress with cute light blue bows along the bottom, middle and on right in the centre of the v line. I brushed out my chocolate waist brown layers that started at my chin, humming one of my favourite tunes and pulling silly faces at the mirror, my emerald green eyes staring back at me playfully. I smile, it's moment like these, that I feel completely carefree and content, certain that life couldn't get any better. Most people enjoy a rush of adrenaline, or excitement to be happy and enjoy life, but me, I like the simple things, because they either make or break my day. I mean I love doing fun and exciting thing but I prefer to go for a jog, listening to relaxing music and observing nature rather than going to a theme park, or parties.
I twirl around my room, until I hear my name called from the kitchen. I skip all the way there and enter the kitchen positively glowing.
"Morning mother," I sing, grinning from ear to ear, hoping she is in good mood too. Unfortunately, as soon as she turns around my smile drops like a stone. She looks pretty tired, but there is a sad look in her eye that tells me something is wrong.
"We need to talk" and there it is.
"Ok" I respond weakly. She takes the plate of freshly made pancakes towards the dining room where there are a couple of my favourite toppings, including ice cream which mum only gets out when I am really upset because it's my most favourite comfort food. Now I was getting seriously stressed. Mum heaps a couple of pancakes on both of our plates and soundlessly adds our favourite toppings, cream, banana, maple syrup and pecans for her and ice cream, chocolate sauce, blueberries and strawberries for me. I watch her anxiously fiddling with the bows on my dress. I wait for her to say something or at least hint to what's going on, but she just starts eating her pancakes obviously expecting me to do the same, so I nervously start picking at my brekkie.
After what feels like ages we both finally finish and my get ups mentioning for me to do the same.
"Bring the ice cream" she tells me and I oblige. I follow her to the living room and we plonk down on the comfy couches.
"Gabi," mum looks at me and looks away again, I just wait, holding my breath. She sighs and looks at me again.
"You're going to live your father from the next month onwards," she proclaimed, and dropped her head. Despite the fact that she nearly just gave me a cardiac arrest with her words, I scoot closer to her and envelope her small hands on my big slender ones. I wait until she makes eye contact and smile the tiniest smile, encouraging her to go on.
