Chance get your head out of the clouds it’s time to get on the road!" My mother yelled up the old stairs,

I reluctantly pulled myself away from the wide bedroom window displaying the wide dock and stretching water and made my way down the creaky stairs. My mother looked at me with a sympathetic look from the front door her black hair up in the usual bun on top of her head.

“Chance you will meet new people in shylow" her face was sympathetic and worried

"you say that every time we move this is the nineteenth time you have up rotted me since I was three I’m now nine teen is this ever gonna stop?" my voice was harsh

I noticed the frown that started to creep across her pail face, I hated when she made me feel bad for something. Pulling my gean jacket on over my plaid shirt I walked to my black truck got in and turned on the radio. I watched as my mom locked the door for the last time and left the keys in the mail box, she got into her small car and motioned for me to follow her. The sun was starting to rise as we pulled out to the empty road. The closer we got to shylow  there was more and more farm land stretching out in front of us, after a long three hour drive we turned into a long dirt drive way miles away from the small town. Uncle Joe and the moving truck were already there to greet us I sat in the truck not wanting another house but a permanent home. my mom waved me over to say hello, as I got out of the truck I caught a glance of the house it was a normal size with fields and run down fences. I looked back to my mom when Joe started talking.

'Hello young man I haven’t seen yaw in awhile just call me Joe" a smile came to his face when we shook hands.

"it has been a while Joe" I glanced to my mom as she came into the conversation.

"Chance your uncle here was telling me he has a  job lined up for you" she seemed excited for me, the intensity when we left the house was no longer there.

“That’s great, where will I be workin??"

"oh just a small farm down the road, from what your ma has told me, I think you will like the work" his face so cheerful I started to think he would enjoy this more than me.

“I’m gonna be a ranch hand?"  Mom cut in then.

"oh Chance don’t be so reluctant you'll be helping the couple with regular farm chores you can’t really call it a ranch they only have two horses for their daughter" she rolled her eyes and smiled as Joe added his peace of motivation.

"Hey Chance if you have any questions I’ll be workin with yaw how’s that for luck" as he chuckled I nodded my head in agreement.

"Sounds good to me" I was actually looking forward to this move.

"great I’ll be by to get ch'ya bright an early" when Joe left  we started to unload the truck I picked a room that had a nice view of the many fields behind the house, just after i put my stuff down in the room my mom called up.

"Chance I’m going into town do you want anything?"

"Umm whatever you find we can have for supper" for once I was starting to feel at home

"Yes of course!" she was laughing with a smile I missed seeing.

After she left I continued emptying boxes and setting the beds up my bed was the last to set up  mom got back with take out and told me about the town, how nice everyone was and how she ran into one of our  new Nabors.

“The mother and father's names are Chris and Sam they have a son your age his name is Jessie' she was so thrilled that she already started a friendship within hours of being here. i took a mouth full of take out and she continued talking about this new family.
