CHAPTER ONE - STRICT ORDERS
____________________
When I first met you, I honestly didn't know you were gonna be this important to me.

I groaned in frustration and got up, “Damned alarm clock,” I hissed angrily as I reluctantly got myself ready for class.
“Rose! Get to class or you’ll be late!” Emily, the house help, reminded me.
I struggled into my skinny jeans and pulled on a random muscle tank, with one last glance into the mirror I jogged down the stairs and ran directly into Emily.
“Oops!” I laughed, “Where’s mom and dad?”
She looked down at the floor and her petite voice answered me, “Busy. Your mother is meeting a client and your father is in his office.”
I shrugged, “As I expected.” I strolled to the door and as I put my hand on the door knob Emily called my name. I looked back just in time to see an apple soaring towards me, I caught it without hesitation. “Thanks, bye Emily,” I said with a smile as I left my flat.
~~~
I’m Rose Ashley Smith and this is my story. I’m currently headed to my culinary arts university. Yes, I can cook. It’s my passion. I’ve been to this college for three months now and I love it. I like to read in my spare time. I live in a flat. I used to live in a country in Asia, more specifically, the Philippines, with my parents and brothers. I had to move to London, obviously because my parents are obsessed with their jobs. P.S. I curse like a sailor.
~~~
As I was running through the corridors, I turned a sharp left and crashed into two teenage boys. I decided against the urge to hit them in the balls and spit on their faces.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I hissed as I bent down to quickly grab all my belongings, “Thanks for ruining my morning, jerks.”
The two boys didn’t even help me pick up my stuff. THEY DIDN’T EVEN APOLOGIZE! I hope karma bites them in the ass. I took a seat in my usual place, which is the second row. I bit my lip, fuming with anger. If I see them again I will kick them in the balls, not even kidding. Like, didn’t they learn to be nice to ladies?
“Rose! Focus. Never have I EVER seen you distracted in my class! I might have to call up your parents for this, young lady.” The teacher growled.
I gave her a sweet smile, “Sorry Ms. Lawrence,” To be honest, never have I ever listened in her class. The old hag needs a new pair of glasses, that’s for sure. The bell rang, signaling my freedom. I jumped up and jogged to the cafeteria, bumping into my closest college friend, David. We met when he tried to hit on me and I totally thought he was gay. He’s pretty charming and handsome but he’s like my left butt cheek, we’re friends and that’s it.He steadied me so I wouldn’t fall – totally gentlemanly gesture which I hope the two boys from this morning learn to do – then greeted me, “Hey! How was your class?”
I took a seat on the nearest table and shrugged lifelessly, “Okay. Hi, by the way.”
“Damn. What’s your problem girl? And I have something to tell you!” He exclaimed, his eyes brightening.
I stifled a laugh, “David, sometimes I forget you have balls,” I chuckled lightly then added, “Some jerks just ruined my morning, that’s all. What did you want to tell me?”
He inhaled deeply then his cheeks reddened and he started flailing his arms, “I heard from Tiffany who heard from Lilia who found out on twitter that the boys of One Direction rented a place near your flat!”
My mouth dropped open, “Jesus, David. It’s like I witnessed the upgrading of Pikachu – you flailed your arms!”
He rolled his eyes, “You might get to meet one of them!”
I stopped eating for a moment and raised my eyebrow, “Isn’t One Direction that boy band that everyone thinks is gay? Im pretty okay looking but I can’t turn a gay guy straight.”
He stopped munching on his burger and stared at me with eyes that said something like, are you fucking serious, “Here’s a picture of them,” He replied as he handed his phone to me.
“Look, it’s those two douchebags!” I said pointing at two boys in the picture, it’s the boys who were totally mean this morning.
“Gee, Rose. They don’t look that bad,” David was gulping down a large Slurpee.
I rolled my eyes, “No, Those are the boys that ruined my morning. They bumped into me. What Jerks.”
He barked out a laugh, “What a nice way of meeting two international stars.”
I quickly bluetoothed the picture to my phone and then handed his phone back to him, “Im going to class a few minutes early. There’s a test in this dumb minor subject, see you.”
~~~
My ringtone blasted on loudly as my feet hit the pavement, “Im a Barbie girl, In a Barbie world…” I sang along with it and then checked the caller ID, and with a sigh I picked it up, “Oh hey, mum. Finally found time to call me because you haven’t done that in like three years,” I whispered to myself.
“Hey, Hun. I’ll be at the house in about five minutes for dinner,” and with that she hung up on me. I continued walking to my flat, my head down so I could concentrate on temple run. I knew the location to my flat like I knew the back of my hand, I could find my way there blindfolded.
I skipped inside and was warmly greeted by my mother, very unexpected since she’s never been home in sync with me since forever. We ate dinner peacefully – this was also unexpected because she’s usually ranting about how disappointing I am.
My father cleared his throat and looked me in the eyes, “We have some new house rules.”
I raised my eyebrow innocently. Why the fuck do I need rules I haven’t smoked any weed, smoked a cigarette or drank since I was a fetus. I'M A MOTHER FRICKIN’ NUN.
My mom glanced at my dad and he inhaled, “You are not allowed to be acquainted with the boys who have recently moved in,” He said sternly, and then added, “Their company is my rival and I don’t intend to let them break my family from the inside.”
I shrugged and then nodded, “Yes, sir.”
This wasn’t news to me. They never let me get close to boys. They probably think David is a homosexual. I’m already aware of what boys do anyway. They steal and then break your heart. I say this from experience. I know deep down that love never lasts. Everyone’s got to make it on their own or just simply keep a straight face. I don’t need a boy to drag me down. They’re nothing but trouble.
