Chapter 1

Jennifer's POV:

"Rise and shine", mom said as she shift the curtains to the sides.

"What time is it now?", i grunt in my sleepy voice.

"Its almost 8. Come on you have to leave at 9", she pulled my arms to lift me up but i pulled myself back and pretend to fall asleep.

"Just 5 minutes more please"

"No no no, you dont wanna be late on the first day of school do you? Get up sleepyhead", she laughed.

I yawned and forced my bum off the bed then dragged myself to the bathroom for a shower. I really hate first days of school. You have to meet new people, new teachers, new books, new assignments...well everything. But thank goodness my best friends are in the same class as me, it wouldn't be so bad then.

My name is Jennifer, Jennifer Fernandez. My parents and friends calls me by my nickname most of the time, Jenny. My dad is a well known doctor and surgeon in our town and my dream is to be a doctor too just like him. I love the idea of curing and saving people's life and making it better. And as for my mom, she's my fulltime best friend and a perfect housewife. I dont think i could live without her. I dont think i could live without them both. After all, i'm the only child in the family.

"Good morning mom, good morning dad", i say as i enter the kitchen.

"Good morning sweetheart!", dad says as he took a mouthful of scrambled eggs from his fork.

"Goodbye mom, goodbye dad", i say after grabbing a banana from the kitchen counter.

"Goodbye? Where are you going?", dad asked.

"School dad, i dont wanna be late so i'm leaving now" i said to him as give my mom a peck on her cheek.

"Whoa hold on, i'll drop you", he said after taking a gulp of water. He put on his cream coloured coat over his white shirt and kissed mom before leaving. I smiled looking at how much they love each other.

"You look great today Jen, as always", dad said when we stopped at a traffic.

"Thanks daddy", i gave him a cheeky smile.

I'm wearing a simple pinkish floral dress which it's length drops right on my knees, it's not a short dress though. I tied my hair into a tight ponytail and i've got some mascara on and applied a very light shade of pink lipstick. I think that's my everyday makeup look to be honest. I don't apply foundation or concealer or blusher or whatever, i'm not a pro on those.

"Here we are", dad said and stopped right in front of the school gate.

"Thanks dad, i'll call you when im done with school", i say while shutting the door.

"Jen, i don't think i can pick you up today. I have an important surgery to do so.."

"It's okay dad i can manage. There's always a cab or bus i could take", i smiled and he looks relieved.

"Are they your friends?", dad pointed diagonally behind me. I turned and saw Alana and Zack smiling and walking towards me.

"Jenny! I miss you!", Alana almost screamed and gave me tight hug.

"Don't you miss me?", Zack smirked.

"Course i miss you! I miss you both, it's been awhile since we last met!", i said hugging Zack and he lifts me up a little during the hug. He always does that everytime we hug.

"Oh, guys meet my dad!"

"Hi Mr Fernandez", they both greeted.

"Hello guys. What are you names? And you dont have to call me Mr Fernandez, just call me uncle is alright", dad laughed.

"Alana", she pointed to herself.

"Zack", he held his hand out to dad for a handshake. I'm controlling myself not to laugh at how Zack is reacting.

"Alright see you all soon, i gotta rush for work now. Have fun", dad waved.

"Love you dad", i waved and he drove away.

"Well Zack, wasn't that a little too formal?", i teased.

"I gotta agree with that", Alana laughed.

"I was just trying to be nice okay stop teasing me", he rolled his eyes.

"But handshake? Seriously?", i laughed and Alana laughed harder.

"Shut up and let's go get some coffee before our lesson starts", he laughed with us.

We still have about half and hour until our first lesson starts, so we can chill for a while and do some catching up chat.

"I'll order. What do you guys want?", Zack said hanging his bag on his chair.

"Cappuccino", Alana smiled.

"I dont feel like having a coffee right now, just get me a mineral water", i say.

"Alright then, be right back", Zack got up and Alana shifts her chair closer to mine.

"Jenny, guess who i meet last night!"

"Who?"

Here we go again.

"Nick!", her eyes light up when she said his name.

"Alana...when are you gonna mend your ways? Sometimes Nick, sometimes Jason, sometimes Dan, sometimes Vicky. This is not right. You shouldn't play like that. If they got to know about this, it will hurt their feelings", i said sternly.

Alana is the kind of girl who hangs out with a lot of guys whom she claims her friends. She meet someone new every few months or weeks. She will say she likes them, all of them but she said she will only marry one person. I really have no idea what advice to give her anymore, she's stubborn.

"It has got nothing to do with my ways, it's about finding my life partner Jenny. I mean, i have to put them to a test so that i would know who is my Mr. Right. Everyone ought to do that", she said.

"I dont agree with you. You fall in love once in a lifetime, and to do that you dont have to put everyone to a test. You only need to heed the call of your heart", i say with a calm voice.

"Hey, have you found yours?", she whispered.

"No...but i know he is somewhere out there, he will find me someday", i smiled.

"What are you girls talking about?", Zack spoke as he give us our drinks.

"Nothing, come on lets get going", i said trying to change the subject. I don't wanna talk about love life now, especially not on a first day of school.

The school bell rang and we made our way to class for our first lesson. Biology. Well, it's gonna be a long day and hot day. I hope it rains today.
